Here's the Unofficial results summary from Ls1tech thread http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104716&page=5&pp=20:

10. 10.00 Brian Clarke driving a blue Nova
9. 9.99 Tom Hunsucker in a black Hemi 'Cuda
8. 9.95 Chris Johnson in a 1969 Camaro
7. 9.85 Mel Graham in a 1969 Camaro
6. 9.83 Jim Pravis in a black 1968 Hemi Charger
5. 9.76 Kevin Zasky in a black 1969 twin-turbo Hemi Charger
4. 9.70 Mike Thompson in a red S10 pickup with a 357 SBC
3. 9.58 Ray Doti in a red turbo Nova
2. 9.47 John Cunningham in a white Nova with a N/A BBC
1. 9.45 Ken Close in a 1934 Ford coupe with a BBC

The top dog was Robert Schmidt in a beautiful white '66/'67 BBC stick-shift Chevelle that averaged 9.40.

I believe these are their three run hot lap averages. So some impressive runs and driving on pump gas. Congrats to everyone that was selected for the event. Solid showing for the black 1969 twin-turbo Hemi Charger we saw up at 1BADLS1/Hardcore Motorsport last weekend. :)

Sounds like they had a great event down there. Looking forward to hearing from our local guys on their results, pics and clips.

Have a safe trip home everyone.

THAT's the guy I was asking you about Dave. I knew he looked familiar but couldn't figure out from where. Makes sense now. I knew I had seen him at Stanton but for the life of me couldn't remember who it was.

That charger was badass. Didn't run the numbers I expected though.

For the record there was a couple guys who had some bad luck that would have made that list of results look like a joke. Ray Doughty (in the red turbo efi nova) ran a 9.12 and backed it up with a 9.08, but broke on the third run. The blue chevelle (67 I believe) was short shifting the first 2 gears and hitting third by the 300 ft mark (due to traction) and was STILL runnin 9.0x until he broke and couldn't run the third pass. There was a guy in a 68 vette with blue stripes that ran three perfect 9.1x passes, but unfortunately on the way to the track his ignition box got hot and cutout, which made him fall behind the chase vehicle. When that happened, it was a DQ, though they still let him run.

Some wild rides there. The Datsun 240z was an animal lifting the tires 4 feet in the air TWICE on the same run before crossing the center line... the 34 Ford lifting the nose high enough that his back bumper dragged and scooped rubber off the pavement, etc

What a great show!

Nice meeting you Mike and Dave,I had a great time, also a big thanks to Dan for letting me stay at his place.

It was also nice to run into a few people I have not seen in a while and also to meet some more people from the board.

At least they got the racing in,it would have been a huge bummer if it did not go.

OK since no one else is asking the obvious I guess I will. What did Tanner and Roman run?

ws6transam
05-01-2004, 10:51 PM
Dan here--

I believe Roman was running low 11's while Taner was mid 10's on all of their runs. Very consistent, IIRC, while most of the competitors were all over the place in terms of E/T.

They were running quite respectable--- Excellent showing, clean runs.

Nice pics.

Well, I just got home. 2, 12 hour days of driving in 3 days. Then the day i between of teching, cruising and racing til midnight. Then a cruise back to the hotel (in my car) with the t-tops off and drink until 3:30 am last night. Yee haw.

The guy that won, Rob in the white Chevelle I think was also the most impressive car there. It was a beautiful white with a blue vinyl top. It had steel bumpers, stock bucket seats a small tach on the steering column, all steel body. Simply beautiful.

The track was awesome, awesome machines and a great time with group that went down.

Thanks guys for all of help getting my car ready.

it was a hoot! the friends made the event! and of course the cars didn't hurt ;)

the track itself was awesome, but the air was $hit. oh well we all ran in the same climate.:D

my 60's were crap, as i was leaving way to hard, but no biggie, i got to run with alot of cool cars!!!

the winning car had a Jerico in it i believe, not very street friendly but a balst to hear popping gears!!!!

Wow,
What a last couple days...
Iv'e been to heaven's parking lot.
Doesn't really matter who got to be king
What an honor for the short list of people who were asked
to sit at the table of the elite, every car there
was beautiful and wicked bad ass.
Congrats to all.

PS
There was a 67 Chevelle from Alberta ( Someone verify?)
putting out enough power to run a friggin 6 I swear if
he hooked that car he would have spit out chunks of
pavement.

Nice to see everyone
Good night

Just silly seeing just how stong so many differant types of power combos can run, doing it on true pump gas!

If thats the worst thing that happens this summer then I will be a lucky man.

I was having an intermitent problem a few weeks ago,and I thought I had fixed it.

But I guess it was Opti and the other small problems combined.

Good thing it was over Friday night and we travelled on Saturday:p

No problem Matt I wish we hadn't got the filp off by mother nature on Thrusday. Man have your guy throw in the vac modutator while hes fixing the 3/4 pack. On a side note 320 shot on pump gas who would have dreamed it possible, thanks for letting me do the wideband work with you on the tune.
.... as always it was a pleasure to work on your BAD AZZ LT1 Transam. Be sure to e-mail me the Log data and WB data and we'll tweek where needed!!!
Lets see a 9 second 355 LT1 on pump fuel :)

on a side note this Red Nova out of New York owned by a real cool dude {Ray Doti}, small block powered single t85 turbo running 9.oh my god et's was my favroite pump gas ride. Owner built in his garage at home with his two boys and wife!
it can't get much better than this sick duce.
http://www.hotrod.com/hotrod/eventcoverage/113_pgd_75_l.jpg

Dam I just noticed my second favrote PGD car next to Ray in the pic...
...the white nova of Jim Henna. That car was so low key small tire easy to not give it a second look then he rips off high nine second passes like a frigg'n bracket car.

Timberwolf
05-02-2004, 09:43 PM
Jeff, that red nova was my favorite too. There's a few pics and vids in that collection of mine. I wouldn't be at all suprised if that became a feature car down the road.

Also, what's the story behind your ford-hatin jack russel? :)

ws6transam
05-02-2004, 11:29 PM
My absolute favorite was the white & blue '68 Corvette with the vintage '72 Ekler's custom fiberglass rear. It had a red interior and still sported the original factory T-tops and a worked over IRS suspension with factory leaf spring! Steve (?) bought it 25 years ago from the original owner.

Too bad his MSD ignition took a little nap on the cruise to the track, resulting in the DQ. His three runs were 9.17 / 149MPH, 9.18 / 149 MPH, and 9.17 / 149.5 MPH.

If he hadn't been disqualified during the cruise, he's have beat the fastest time by over two tenths! The car was oh, so subtle, yet oh, so sweet! Virtually no wheels-up, just a straight & hard launch off the line, then jam on the nitrous at the sixty-foot mark to drive the MPH through the roof!

We've posted more about the PGD at this thread. (http://www.michiganspeed.com/Speedforum/index.php?showtopic=3071&view=findpost&p=27684)

I KNOW I'm reviving and old thread but I'm new here and my ears were burning! Thanks for the good words (6 months ago LOL) - hope to see you guys in memphis this year if I can get the car back together in time AND get invited.

I have added considerable horsepower, taken hundreds of pounds of weight out, made it more streetable, and added much more tire and EFI.

Hey Ryan,
I was really happy to see you made the cover after everything
you'd been thru.

In case you don't remember me .......and I've told this story to more
than a few of my friends.

We were drinking beer at the awards ceremony

"Dude I just blew up a 30k motor"

"Look on the brightside your gonna be in Hot Rod magazine"

"Do you really think so?"

"You trapped 156 blowing the tires everywhere you'll be in."

BIG smile......1 beer and 90 seconds later

"Dude I just blew up a 30k motor"

Congrats on the cover and I hear youv'e been invited back

Hey Taner and Kevin!

The cover was nice but I have gotten over both the glamour and also the agony of defeat and have moved on LOL. Not like it was the first engine I hurt and definately not the last.

Kevin, WHERE did you hear I've been invited back LOL I haven't applied yet. I'm still working on my application. I should have it JB welded together and ready for the mailbox in a week or so.

I've got a lot of work to do - I have been slack but I kicked myself into gear about a week ago and have been working on it every night. I'm a little intimidated by the EFI (at first) but once I get it on the dyno and off again in one piece I'll be ok with it.

I can't make the same mistakes twice - I have bigger tarz and wheelie barz now, better shocks and I have 4340 bar stock .220" wall wrist pins and a lighter rotating now so it should be good to go. I would also run more than one stage shotgun blast of nitrous this time, up to 3 smaller guns that I can select from on the fly.

ws6transam

WOW Ryan, I wish I could see you run THAT combo - I still love replaying your videos on my hard drive... I'll be there the week before the PGD trying out my own "new combo" at the NFME event.

p.s. You inspired me to aquire my own "A" body but I am not sure where I'm going to go with it yet. http://www.ws6transam.org/f85/olds.jpg

lol! 3 stages!! you are one crazy bastard! gotta love this ****! i am just trying to make everything fit around my sheetmetal intake, not an easy chore by any means! if you don't go down to memphis, tell you know of another canadian willing to go down in another blue car :D

Sheet metal intake? Deja vu - I just bought a used sheet metal intake with 4 throttle bodies on it - split dominator style. I am getting some annular fogger bungs installed in it by my friend in memphis (hotrodsolutions.net) and should have it in my hands next week. Also, another friend is making me some custom billet CNC throttle bodies that will much nicer than these and say "Lump Racing" on them.
