All they do there is talk about tradition and respect when they are the most disrespectful people I have seen. Anyway go have fun there, but get ready to be disappointed at everything in the school.

I only applied to A&M because that’s the only school I wanted to go to. I had no problems getting in. My GPA is pretty decent.

I'm leaving Tech because this school has treated me like ****. I came up here 2 years ago not knowing anyone. I've tried my ass off to be outgoing, even tried pledging a frat, but left and right everyone here has either used me or treated me like ****. The only social thing I have relatively enjoyed her is working at Discount Tire.

I don’t care if Tech has a decent football team. They always fall on their face during pressure situations anyway. Sports mean very little to me in the over all scheme of life. The tradition here sucks.

The majority of the last 4 graduating classes from my high school all went to A&M. I miss my friends, I miss a good time and right now I feel like I'm missing out on life. Tech has done nothing but depressed me and made me angry. I wont shed a single tear as I drive out of the sh*t smelling worthless middle of no where waste of a town. I will never return to Lubbock. I hate so many things about this place. I already feel better calling my self an Aggie. I scraped the "Texas Tech" sticker off my car today. Made feel good!:D :D

COOL, well your first mistake was joining a frat, they suck out here I agree. Tech is not perfect, but West Texas people are soooo much nicer than any others I have met. We differ on opinions, I have a hell of a time out here and have met soooo many people. Yuo gotta move on from just high school friends, theres more out there. Anyway good luck there, but you would never ****ing in a million years think of going to A&M. I have had soooo many friends transfer from there because of how ****ty it is. Anyway Good luck

I am from the permian basin and i will say that i would never attend Texas Tech. No offence meant towards anyone who went there or is going there (my mom graduated from tech even) just wouldn't ever want to live in lubbock. Right now i'm at Colorado State and i recieved my acceptance today as well! I'm transferring to A&M in the fall! What degree are you going into? I'm in the school of mechanical engineering. They have a lot of things to offer that CSU didn't. Better vehicle dynamics/turbo vehicles classes. I cant wait to move down there this fall.

I will leave it that both schools have their good points and their bad. I feel (my opinion) is that my money is better spent at A&M rather than Tech. For the degree that I am going into and the connections that i can come out of school with at A&M is better than i could get at Tech. Like i said my mom went to Tech and i'm sure alot has changed but she didnt' like the quality of education that she recieved there or the student-faculty relations.

I'm very sure it will be better than my current school CSU. I like it up here but it's just not for me, i'm ready to be back in Texas. Looking forward to the difference in cost as well. I'm paying 23k a year at CSU and i'm sure it's cheaper as a resident in Texas. We'll see how things go. Good luck to you at Tech as well. I have a few friends up there. Both drive newer LS1's.

Baylor a 1st class education??!!!!! You have got to be kidding me... I got acepted to Baylor(LAUGH), Rice, Texas Univ.....I CHOSE A&M...Baylor was a joke...UT was decent but Austin wasnt for me...Rice was only a choice considering the major I originally had started with and what my plans were gonna be for grad studies(that changed)....as things turned out A&M was the perfect choice for my major....plenty of hard facts to prove A&M's worth amongst other 1st class institutions...

opinions are like a$$holes...everybody has one...

Yea i got accepted that everywhere i applied but at the time i didnt' want to go to a texas school but my top two choices were UT and A&M in texas but i went to CSU. As far as A&M not having a 1st class degree. Your right they're not ranked number one on this list for engineering but none of the schools you listed are above them.

How can one be a "jealous hater" if aTm accepts anyone and everyone? That right there discredits whatever you've said there big guy...sorry :)

Mechanical engineering and veterinary science, I do give aTm that, but considering how large of an institution it is (50k+) I'd hope they'd be good at something...this can be said for any large institution...

So if you're the intelligent guy that you say you are ("I got into Rice, Baylor, etc") then why did you make the dumb decision to settle on a mediocre school such at Texas aTm?

Because being a tier one school matters to me, i'm leaving CSU which is a tier 1 research institution for A&M. That's fine if you dont like A&M but you dont have to dog people who go there. Like i said and you agreed A&M is a great engineering school, better than the schools you've listed and Engineering is all i care about. A&M might take everyone but their Engineering school does not. Not that I want to encourage this type of debate, but here's a list of rankings that I found online:

LINK (http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/natudoc/tier1/t1natudoc_brief.php)

Summary:

Rice - #16
UT - Austin - #53
A&M - #67
SMU - #73
Baylor - #78
TCU - #99
Texas Tech - NR
U. of Houston - NR

Now of course some colleges will rank higher than others depending on what programs you're talking about, but overall, this sounds about like I would expect.

Given the fact that A&M has basically no fine arts department, and the liberal arts college is nothing to write home about, the ranking seems pretty good. Certainly for engineering, science, and business, I'd put an A&M grad up against anyone from any other schoool in the state. I know A&M's Petroleum Engineering department is always #1 in the country with the others within engineering right up there.

I'm a big Aggie, and would never have wanted to go to school anywhere else. You may indeed be able to get a better education somewhere else, but the experience overall is second to none.

Be proud of your school wherever you go, and work to improve it where you can. Name calling is just childish.

Nice post. I agree i think my money is best spent at A&M for what i want to do It may be different for what you want. I have researched where i'm going and what each place has to offer for my degree and i chose A&M. Have fun wherever you decide to go and make the best of it.

Well, I find it comical that you won't tell us where you went (or go, or would like to go), yet all you do is bash A&M. I don't think any school in Texas isn't worth getting an education at, but I do think calling A&M a decent, mediocre school is a stupid, UN-edumacated decision.

Tech are the nicest people?? HAHA. Tech has the most classless fans I have ever seen.

Ask any school in the big 12 and see who has the classiest fans, it's between A&M and Nebraska every year.

Now about an education...Tech is an avg school in terms of education. It has nothing that it is spectacular about, nothing that is nationally known. A&M on the otherhand, when you say to someone, wherever you are, that you graduated from A&M, they know it's a great education, ESPECIALLY when you are in the engineering program. And try telling the people who have 3.4 GPAs and get denied in the Mayes business school that everyone gets accepted. Some of you people are so closed minded. I don't have anything against Tech, except the fact that every Raider I've ever come across with in these kinds of debates are jealous A$$ holes, that all they can say is how their football team beats up on ours every year. Well it's about dang time your team has a decent team. Even then, you guys consider a good team one that won 8 games. Wow, 8 games. Even w/ a couple of down years at A&M, 8 games is still a disappointing season. When you guys can grow up and get real arguments, then come back here and talk. Otherwise, keep your childish far fetched comments at a minimum.

Correct on both points.

Tech is a step above swimming in cow **** and a step below ****ing your own mother in the ass. Both of which are requirements to attend Tech. Tech is where people go that don't want a real education, they just want to go somewhere that accepts you for just being an a55hole.

The way I see it, you pay for what you get...how is it a decent education can be offered at such a low price? Probably because it's not... If you've lived in Texas your whole life, you were brought up to love the Aggies or the Longhorns. When you were in high school and even middle school did you visit those campuses to research their education? No...you made drives out to College Station or Austin to go to a big bad football game.

The way I see it, those of you who were force-fed Aggies/Longhorns football wouldn't think twice about not going to one of their "fine institutions." I would put money down that if we weren't all force-fed Aggie and Longhorn football at a younger age that we would have grown to be more open minded about surrounding Texas institutions...

You're getting :Owned: left and right...it must be killing you that I won't tell you what I do...

Considering the circles I've been running around you, I'd come to the conclusion that I'm a bit more witty than thou :D Which Law School tough guy? I may know a thing or two concerning the subject...

He'll we're all in texas lets start bashing other states because believe me, after attending CSU i realize how much Texas bashing goes on (especially in Colorado).

Good call, this guy seems a little bit more mature than soem on here. I agree i am going to tech for Advertising and I can care less abotu other programs. This is getting out of hand. There are good and bad points about every school, and lets just leave it at that.

I am getting owned? Have you not been reading the thread at all? WOW, ignorance is bliss...

it is not killing me...just curious

have you been running circles around me? hmmmm I have not heard a single fact be mentioned in your arguments...

if you were so witty looking at my LOCATION would answer what law school I attend....but again for someone as missinformed as you that is probably asking too much....

Baylor Law School??? Never even considered it...

Texas University Law School
Oklahoma City Law School
South Texas Law School
and yes.. Texas Tech Law School

those were my choices...

wow you are one missinformed individual...I seriously wonder if you have researched any of the things you say before you spew em out in your ridiculous posts....

I don't see you doing anything. You haven't made any relevant points. Your banter is pathetic. You're saying you're "owning" someone when you haven't done anything. How about you say something intelligent before claiming victory

Oh, and Tech is where you go when you get rejected by A&M, UT, Rice, and possibly TSU as they have significantly raised their standards..

I assume his Baylor Law School comment is his way of saying "I am a Baylor student"....

why do I suspect he is full of $hit?

I stick to my original assumption that we are dealing with a pimple face 16 year old fry cook lol

University of Htown, Baby! :D

On a side note: This has got to be the most pathetic thread in the Texas section I've ever seen . I remember a big chant war going on at elementary school one day. Half the kids were chanting "aggies suck" and the other half was chanting "longhorns suck". 10 year olds getting wound up on something they know absolutely nothing about. I think I was just swinging on the jungle gym :D.

This thread reminds me of that day.

Neither university is hard to get into it all depends on what school you want to get your major in. I have been accepted everywhere i've ever applied.

You got that right, if you're in the top 10% of your class. Thanks to that rule, it makes it harder to get in because they fill so fast.

A&M's grad school is much harder to get into though.

You might want to learn how to type in complete sentences first there Brook. :p

Yeah, I'm in grad school in the nuclear engineering department, getting my Health Physics, M.S.

I actually got into A&M right out of High School but didn’t get into the Mechanical Engineering school. I got into ME at Tech so I went there. I’m not going to get into this “My school is better than yours” thing, Tech just isn’t for me. After two years I’m just worn out up here. Every time I’ve gone to A&M to see people I have so much fun. I fit there so much more. I’ve also decided that ME isn’t for me. I hate all the math/Calculus and physics. I’ve decided to get into Construction Science. My Dad is in development back in Fort Worth. I’ve got a good paying internship at his company this summer and not only that but 3 guys also have Construction Science degrees from A&M up there. It only makes sense for my future to go to A&M and get into Construction Science.

I just cant wait!!!!!!!

Chris nailed it on the head....IF you are in the top 10% of your grad high school class it is easy to get in...

after the first year weed-out courses are done though the men and the boys are seperated when all the "crap school" students who were in those top 10% couldn't cut it and ended up kicked out

yeah, I've heard of CS majors getting massive interships. paying around 5 figures for a summer. There is a ceiling there though, but right outta the box, it's a nice way to go.

Yeah I'd love to meet up with some fellow car guys. Where does everyone meet?

Once I pick up my LT1 block I'm going to need some help with the build up before I drop it in. I've already got a few parts for my swap.

By the way I'm going to try and get a job at the Discount Tire Co. in College Station. I work at Discount up here in Lubbock and my boss says he can prob get me in down there.

I'll hopefully be meeting up with a few people this fall when i'm down in College Station as well. I'm hoping i can get my 69 camaro back up and running with the LT1/T56 in it. I look forward to meeting you guys and having a new group of people to hang out with. Also planning on having a BBQ at my apartment (not a big apartment but we'll see what i can do) when i get there in august. I need to meet a few people in C.S. that know a good bit about the LT1 so they can help me out in deciding what to do to the setup in my car the following summer and help me learn more about it. I'm new to all this F.I. stuff so it'll be a new experience.

Sweet, i cant wait to get down there. Glad to see we're back on car issues as well. A&M should be fun, especially since i'm in engineering. I'm hoping i can add a classic f-body to the area for a while but not sure we'll have it done in time to leave. I'll be down there end of august.
