I have a 97 z with 75 k on it and the a4 tranny. I want to spray or supercharge the Z. My question is what should I do? I really don't want to spend more that 3grand on the supercharger. I would like to get around 450 at the rear wheels. But with the a4 am I asking for trouble? What do you think.

With 3k to spend on a s/c I think you can get away with a entry level s/c like an S-trim or a p-600b and then have enough to get some forged pistons to lower your compression and get a decent fuel system. Good luck.:)

If you are on a 3k budget then my suggestion would be to go nitrous. Remember regardless of what direction you want to go tunning is the key. :) You also may want to look at a heads and cam package. :)

A Vortech system will cost about $3,200 plus install (if you can't do it). Then to do it right, you should change to SVO style injectors and get it tuned...so you're way over your $3K budget with no money left over for forged pistons! My 95 Z28 with a 6# Vortech and a few bolt ons dyno'd 370 rwhp which is far short of your 450 rwhp desire. If your goal is fast quarter mile runs, go the nitrous route. You get purchase a quality kit with all the safety items (fuel pressure safety switch, rpm window switch) for about $1K. My friend's stock 94 with only a cat back exhaust and CAI went 11.8 in the quarter on a pair or borrowed ET Streets!

You mean he went 11.8 with a stock motor and nitrous, right?
