LT1RX7 04-26-2004, 12:45 PM I worked on it all saturday and everything turned out really well. There's just a few more things I have to do before I can drive it on the streets. So far my dowpipes only go as far as the tranny but damn does it sound nice:D

Just turn to the TT LT1 in RX7 section of your Jegs or Summit catalogue :p.
Looks good :).

TimbrSS 04-27-2004, 12:14 AM Where'd you get those valve covers from? do you know if they have any problems leaking or have you run them yet?
Chrisbequick 04-27-2004, 04:28 PM Accessories?

Dead weight. lol
Looks good. I thought about doing something similar on mine, but was concerned about the location of the alternator. Your engine and mine look almost identical, down to the fancy schmancy valve covers. :D

They are twin TO4B turbos, twin 35mm Tial wastegates, custom FMIC, Apexi BOV, stock bottom end, mild port heads, cam
There's been lots more done but I don't want to bore you to death
did you buy a TT kit or did you do it all yourself?
I made everything in my tiny ass garage. I did send some of the welding to my friend, but I just bought a tig welder so all the welds you see after the header collector is mine.
100:1 says thats all custom
you'd be right:)

I would actually build them but I just don't know if there is a real demand for them. BTW, how's that IC working out for you?

I got these from Jimlab, but they sell them at summit racing for like $200. As long as they're installed right, there shouldn't be any leaking problems
Accessories?
If you look at my passenger side, you'll see a bracket that'll hold the alternator. That's the only accessory I'll run or need

I can take some snaps of the alt. bracket when I'm done if you like. It's just a simple bracket but it'll do the job. BTW, I have a corvette balancer which makes it a bit easier to mount the alt. due to the spacing between the block
I found out my idle was set at only 500 which made my car not start for a few days. Here's a clip of when I started with the throttle opened a bit

You can kind of hear the gear drive in this vid
Jesse_Boyer 04-27-2004, 10:18 PM ...bore you to death...
I spend hours on these boards and i'm NEVER bored. We're gonna need all the details you can fit in a 50 page Word Doc... GO!!
SMOKNZ 04-27-2004, 11:17 PM John, The intercooler will work perfect. I changed how I'm going to route the piping but everything will work out fine. I'll be making my crash support this weekend hopefully

all that work and just a stock bottom?
do you plan to upgrade later, cause im sure those turbo's will put out plenty more than the stock bottom can handle.
texlurch 04-28-2004, 02:31 AM Looking good! Always nice to see another home built turbo LT1..
You got those valve covers from Summit? I still haven't decided what I want to get, kinda like the polished GM ones..
You'll like it when it gets going! Even with the stock bottom end.
What kind of PCM and controls did you go with?
neil350 04-28-2004, 03:34 AM Good gawd all mighty, my jaw dropped when I saw that.
lt1camaroman93 04-28-2004, 07:32 AM what gear drive did you use? I was going to put one in my car when i had it torn down, but didn't know which one would fit under the cover.

I second that question :D
Pete Jackson

makes a gear drive for SBC Hydraulic roller cams (87+) with the exception of the LT1, but as long as you ditch the water pump drive it would probably fit. I think I'll try it ;)

Well, maybe it'll just make me bored than:)

Crash support? Who needs that:) Good to hear it worked out for you. I'll be having mine made next week with the same size core, just side to side
all that work and just a stock bottom?
I'm sure I'll toast this motor within a month of boosting on it so I know what's coming. I'll end up stroking it out, probably to 383 but it's still up in the air right now. I really want to see how much the stock bottom end will handle

I got these covers from Jimlab but I'm sure the ones that summit sells are just as good. Polished GM covers are nice, very nice. I just like the look of fabrication
I have just a stock PCM with an LT1 edit. I'm still playing around with the idea of mounting one MAF sensor to only one side of my intake. This should only read half of the air I'm actually taking in. I've read that the MAF can only read up to 500hp. My way should be good enough for close to 1000hp, I hope:)

They are the ones that Smoknz has the link of. The only reason they exclude from LT1 models is because we have a knock sensor that will trip out with the gear drive kit.
