eghhh so finally i got my rear tailshaft seal done, thank you firestone. my back seats got a lil wet from the rain but they dry, i shampooed my carpets today/vaccumed, need to tackle my nasty gold and silver iroc rims for when she comes on the road next weekend, got some various sand paper sizes, and tal strip, plan on picking up some masking tape tommrow then maybe putting tal strip on the silver part to get off the clear coat flakes, then maybe sand that silver a little and hit it with mothers, wax and polish, and ideas about the gold portion thats paint just polish that really hard i guess, let me know before i tackle this thing tommrow.

If the rim are dull, maybe webbed and cracked looking but not discolored, you can clean them really good with Brillo/SOS pad and shoot them with clear coat, get a really nice look with this, near factory new. I like the Duplicolor or Truck and Van Clear top coat for this. Get the wheels in the sun, nice and warm, get a couple good coats on them.

Get aircraft stripper to get teh clear off. Spray it on and rince it off. A couple coats may be neccessary but it is a lot easier than sanding it off.

the 5 stars shouldnt be hard to strip, just sand them off or strip them. then clean them up good with soap and water. then spray them. i refinished my rims in about an hour each.
my stock berlinetta rims were about 8 hours just to strip and sand because of all the spokes. still working on them. im thiknig about getting the driver side 2 professionally refinished (from worse looking 2 rims), and the passenger side ill have done myself. save me $

the clear coat is a b*tch to get off. i polished my friends 98 firebird rims. the stuff u wanna get is any normal stripper *can get at walmart for $5-8. but then again, that stuff is more for getting the paint to come off. i forget the name of the stuff i used to get the clear coat off. i have some left at home *im at work now* but when i get hoem ill post the name of the product. u can get it at any autozone or checker. cost about the same price. plus this stuff is SO good. u let it sit on the rim for 30-40 mins *u put a good amoutn on btw* and when u coem out, u use a thing of steel wool and have soem thick ass rubber gloves on *cause when u get it on ur skin it burns like no other* but it comes off SO easy. i polished my R6's rims, and started and the TPI on my car. just DONT use a damn dremal.

Couldn't you jet get them media blasted to take it off?
And its supposed to look like **** after the clearcoat is gone, you have to finish polishing them :)
