I swapped a motor last summer...a 305 TBI from a '93 Caprice and dropped it into my Camaro, which is TPI. Obviously I put the TPI on the engine. I've read that the TPI and TBI heads are different, but how much? Anything else I should know? The car runs great, if that helps your investigation.
Also....I've got about $300 to throw around, the car is stock...what's a good starting point?
Thanks a million

Forgot to mention....
My speedo doesn't seem to work for the first 15 minutes (pretty consistent time)...but after fifteen minutes it springs to life and works fine for the rest of the voyage....is this something easily fixable? Trans. is auto.

Check the connection for the VSS in the tranny. That could be bad or maybe it is the VSS itself. Mine did that till I changed it.

$300,i would say headers and exhaust if u dont have it already. another cheap good thing to have is an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
I'd think the 91 TPI heads would be the aluminum hipo heads, the big Chevy heads would be iron low power standard heads. Probably looking at 25 HP difference in the two engines. For the 300 bucks, I'd go with headers and K&N filters, or put a set of high ratio rocker arms and a chip in the computer maybe.
