Pandamonkey 04-20-2004, 01:39 AM That was sad.:( After such an exciting end to the 3rd - only to blow it in the first minute of OT.......... bzeilstr 04-20-2004, 01:39 AM Well they really didn't deserve the series this year anyway but it would have been nice to put those rude Calgary fans in their place. talos 04-20-2004, 01:45 AM Originally posted by bzeilstr rude Calgary fans. It was a great series that was end to end almost every game. You cant blame Auld at all, he played great when asked to step it up. I think if the Canucks had not seen such a unbelievable goalie in Kiprisoff than the series would have been different. I think he was the difference. You cant win them all. Camaro ChriSS 04-20-2004, 11:12 AM I think it was a BS call on Matt Cooke's 4 minute penalty for high sticking that led to the 2nd goal that was the issue. That was a poor call by the ref. I'm surprised more people didn't complain about that. But then that's just crying over spilt milk... LMAO!!! Where the hell did you get that idea? Vancouver fans are near the bottom of the league when it comes to sportsmanship. Need we forget the 2001 Canuck-Aves series? BOOING THE US NATIONAL ANTHEM?! Total disgrace. The Bertuzzi-Moore incident didn't help the team image any. I love the Canucks as much as the next guy, but come on... Calgary's not even in the same league of rudeness. Draco 04-20-2004, 12:09 PM Originally posted by Steve in Seattle It'd be BS to ignore that crap. cause and effect. Cooke was being checked by the other defencemen. it's not as if he intentionally brought his stick up - he was trying to protect himself. Either way he still drew blood :(. As for the fans, many cities has bad examples including Calgary, and Vancouver - booing a national anthem is pretty retarded though. SBainsTA 04-20-2004, 03:23 PM Originally posted by bzeilstr Well they really didn't deserve the series this year anyway ............... I agree with this part of the statement Originally posted by Camaro ChriSS I think it was a BS call on Matt Cooke's 4 minute penalty for high sticking that led to the 2nd goal that was the issue. That was a poor call by the ref. I'm surprised more people didn't complain about that. But then that's just crying over spilt milk... Matt Cooke's stick didn't even hit the Calgary Player. If you watch it over, it was the other Calgary players stick that hit their own player. I have to say that I am a Canuck Fan from beginning to Start. But when your team does wrong you have to own up to it. The canucks didn't deserve to win because they didn't put nearly as much effort as the flames did. Where the **** was Naslund all those games? He showed up and showed what he could do with 5 seconds left in the game. That is BS!! Nobody was hitting, the Canucks got schooled by a less skilled team. I wont blame Auld for anything because he did whatever he could. I will say that this series showed how valuable Bertuzzi was. There was nobody in front of the flames net. Jovanaski would rush in from the point, the D man would shoot at the last second and it would go off the Calgary player and end up as a break out the other way! What the **** were they thinking. As for Bertuzzi/Moore.... I think Bertuzzi got robbed. He didn't deserve what he got. No-one can say that Bertuzzi broke Moores neck because they couldn't prove if it was Bertuzzi's hit that broke his neck or the two Colorado guys that jumped on him after. I will also say that What Bertuzzi did was NOT wrong. HOW he did it was... As well, why did the league go after him so harshley, and then a few weeks later when the same type of incident happened with 2 other teams, the guy only got two games??? Why didn't the league punish the Flyers/Ottawa? game where the two teams broke the record for most penalty minutes in a game via bench clearing brawls? Bertuzzi was used as an example, and I think it was grossly unfair. I also think Bertuzzi could have created a different outcome to the flames/canuck series. End Rant................ Steve in Seattle 04-20-2004, 04:51 PM Originally posted by Draco cause and effect. The first pass was pretty bad IMO, having been there myself (and who hasn't really) it's no secret that things happen quick and intentions can easily be misread by refs. And yeah, he was getting worked pretty good before it started up, but in all honesty... he knows how the game is played, and what will get him a seat at center ice. The "best" team isn't the one that has more skill or strength, it's the one that puts it all together the best. I don't think anyone can say the canucks did it this year. I personally think they got robbed in the last Ave's series... but not this one. To be fair, I don't think they could have got past Detroit anyway. The Wings and Ottawa will be playing for Lord Stanley's cup this year. ;) Drumhawk 04-21-2004, 02:51 AM I new the Canucks would be finished without Bertuzzi :dead: although I thought they had the talent to get past Calgary. They looked like the old "smurf" team from years ago. Too many small weaker forwards on this team and no goaltending experience to go anywhere in the playoffs. Canuck fans are so loyal and there are so many, look at all those flags on those cars. This city really deserves a championship sometime. | ||
