uploading .bin file from A4 into M6 (Bad?!?)

I have a program that I want to try, it has all the same mods as me except for it is an A4 and I am an M6. What will happen if I use this .bin file?

I'm sorry mods, but I was trying to grab someone's attention from the LT1tech section....

I guess you just have the flash program and no tuning software that you could use to duplicate the tables you needed from the file? For something as important as flashing the computer, I can't answer your question with certainty. Ion (Madwolf) would be a good person to ask.

no, I just got tunercat, so I have the ability to transfer the tables. I honestly never even thought of that. I sure wish I understood this tuning thing more... I guess you learn over time and with experience...:)

You won't cause any "real" issues with the car but you may end up getting a "fake" SES light indicating a problem with your A4 tranny which you don't have :D

Exactly what Brent said. That's how us ex-A4 guys setup our computers for M6 world, and all the happiness that comes with it. :)

If you want to do this and the SES light aggravates you (it would me) I know Ken at LT1 Edit can manually fix this. It isn't part of LT1 Edit but I do know he can fix it manually. Not sure how TunerCat handles this though? Good luck!

Your reverse lockout and reverse lights will not work. Speedo should be quite a bit off too.

I think I may just attempt to duplicate the tables and manually enter them into my modified tunercat .bin file. That seems the most trouble free route. I may take it a step further and run the car with the A4 program just to see if it is worth it. Then upload "my" modified program with the new tables. The SES and other mentioned items won't affect performance right?

You can try it and you won't hurt anything, but why do it?
Most of the time, only the spark and fuel tables are modified, so you can just copy over those if you want.

will running an a4 program with an m6 ( I just finished the swap) cause the car to run in limp home mod?
Thanks,
Kory

that's what I just asked.... The answer is no, but you will get an SES light :)

thats what I thought. I was told by someone locally that it would cause my car to run in limp home mod and retard the timing ect.

Well, I did it last night. No SES light. Everything ran fine. Speedo was WAYYYY off and she idled at about 500rpm, lol. After changing the RPM and speedo settings it ran fine.... Thanks for the help...

That was first time I heard real lope from my hotcam......
