LS1 Trans Am goes down...

Well i met my friend Rudy(95 Stang GT, Catback, 3.90 gears, and CAI, short throw shifter) and Gary(2003 Stang GT Catback, and short throw shifter) on the street real fast so we can run eachother that way we could see how much of a difference my LT's made on my car. Well i try to get behind Rudy and Gary and there is a Trans Am right behind them(not sure who he was). I get behind him. We get on airbase pkwy(a big long straight road) and Rudy and him are at the light. I'm behind the Trans Am. They both go from a slow roll but he pulled on Rudy right away and Rudy let off. He was about 2 1/2 cars in front of me. I switched lanes and by about 110mph i was basically at his bumper. So me and him go again the opposite side of airbase from a roll. I don't remember the speed but i believe i was in 2nd. Well i pull about 1 car on him and then have to let off cuz we start to go over the overpass. Then we go down airbase more and we both get the light. He was pointing forward that he wanted to go again but the light turned green before we were able to go from a dead stop. So we both creep out and go from a 10-15mph roll. I waited for him to punch it then i did. I spun a bit through 1st but not too bad. I shift into 2nd and i start my pull. I shift into 3rd and i'm still pulling. By 110mph where i left off i was about 3 cars on him.

The only mods i know he had was a catback. I think it was an m6 but i'm not totally sure. All in all i'm very happy with my LT's and how they improved my power. The only problems now are damn speed bumps. I scraped 4 times already.

Yeah it was a pretty nice run, :bow: your headers added alot more power top end.

Yea longtubes help tremendously when running LS1's. I had a blast running them N/A.

EDIT..sry about the spelling. I have a couple fingers disabled at the moment so I miss some letters sometimes hehe. The spelling is fixed now.

Not to be a d!ck or rain on your parade but it sounds like he needs a bit a practice w/ his 6spd...very unlikely for a bolt on LT1 to pull a 6spd LS1 up top...let alone 3 cars

yeah, but not impossible. It all depends on his mods on the lt1. And u should know that lt1s r no slouch on the big end either. He prolly got a strong lt1 vs. a regular or weak ls1. U never know. But sweet kill anyway my man.

But sweet kill anyway my man.nothings impossible, the mods are bolt ons and its very unlikely to see a LT1 hang let alone to put 3 cars uptop by the trap speeds these 6spds are turning out stock...LT1 slouch ? no.compared to the LS1 up top.yes...not calling anyone a bs'er just sayin it sounds like ! driver mod.btw good kill

as i said in my original post ,"might be a strong lt1 and a weak or normal ls1." A bolt on lt1 will out run a ls1. My buddy here in toiwn has a lt1 maro m6 w/ bolt ons it runs 12.5 @111. Only thing he did to the internals, if u can call it that, is rockers. Show me a stock ls1 that is running that number. LS1s r sweet but they can be beat by an lt1. Hell my old 305 tpi in my roc could prolly put a hurtin on some auto ls1s and scare a few m6 cars given good traction. Although, my 305 was a strong runner. Check the sig. Not too many auto ls1 a4s trappin much above that.

yea i think its funny how u guys think the ls1 is untouchable....i love both ls1 and lt1but come on its just not right saying an lt1 with some bolt ons cant beat or hang with and catback and intake ls1...

You know, that's funny! The LS1 driver could have very well sucked. Also, LS1 guys do tend to have that snob thing going on in full. HMMMMMMMMM, kind of reminds me of the late 80s, early 90s stang boys and girls. Which makes it all the more fun to whup up on some of these ls1 peeps when they don't have a clue about me. At least for the time being its nice to disagree in a civilize manner about the ls1 lt1 thing. Oh yeah can't forget to throw a couple of tpi peeps in the mix too. Chime tpi peeps tell us of ur experience w/ ls1s.

Be clear. I'm an old schooler. I beleive in the old tech to a point. I like the ls1 also. I wish this 1 buddy of mine would sell his 01 ss m6. Fat chance of that happening. :cry: Oh well. At least I know what my 1st mod would be is the nastiest cam I could put in that thing that would still idle and have good driveability. Got to have the m6! BTW my buddy's car is pewter w/ double silver racing stripes. w/ crhome zr1 wheels. Absolutely beautiful car.

LOL with slicks, stall, full exhaust and a lid my buddies have gone high 11's and 12.0x's in their auto 2002 z28's.

many on this board have had similar results. Show me an LT-1 with such small mods hit that number. It goes both ways, but good kill either way, not everyone has the mythical 320rwhp, 12.88 bone stock LS1 fbody. I've seen just as many go 13.7-13.8 as I have go 13.20-13.10.

Well i never said i pulled 3 cars on him up top. I said we started at about 10-15mph and by around 110mph i had around 3 cars on him. I hit it right after he did and i almost immediatly started to pull on him. My low end was a lot better then his. But my top end was also better then his. If we started at 60mph then i wouldn't of pulled as much though. I do agree that he probably wasn't the best driver in the world though.
