jpolz 04-18-2004, 06:08 PM I was out crusuin' this evening with my fiance on one of the state routes near us (2 lanes each way, grass divider, long straight sections). We were passing through one of the intersections and there was a lime green Ecplipse sitting, waiting to turn onto the lanes going our direction. This thing looked like an exact replica of the Eclipse from F&F, right down to the black carbon fiber hood. I also noticed a green N20 tank in the trunk. I slowed down and waited for him to catch up. He came flying up on my rear end and when he let up I could hear his BOV. I was thinking "this could get ugly". Finally we got through traffic and there was nothing but wide open road ahead of us. I moved over into the right lane and he nailed it until he pulled up along side of me. We paced each other for a few seconds at about 30mph and I heard him punch it, he jumped forward a few feet on me before I mashed it, but I soon recovered the difference. I pulled on him ever so slowly through first and second gear, then once I hit 3rd I started walking past him. By the time I shut it down @ 110, he was 3-4 cars behind me. I waited for him to catch up so I could find out what he was packing. At first he didn't wanna look over but finally looked my way and I asked him "what's it got?" he said "stage 2 turbo kit with a 75 shot of nitrous." I said "not bad." We came up to a stop light and I asked , "You weren't hitting the N20, were you?" He said, "no. *insert something that wasn't working right*. I said "oh, ok. Not bad anyways". Just then I see about 6 LS1 F-bodies comming the other direction and turn left in front of us, so I followed them into a parking lot to BS. One of the guys there was sporting a 9 psi Vortech powered LS1, running 10.5's.
Not a bad day :)
Bluntdogg 04-18-2004, 06:52 PM Pretty much what I would expect, proabably even with him on the juice. Stage 2 on a factory NA model isn't as strong as turbo upgrades on a turbo model, they've got a lot farther distance to make up. Nice kill :thumb:

We didn't get far enough for me to ask if he was just a plain Eclipse or weather his motor was built or not. You figure with the amount of money he probably invested between the paint job, wheels, tires, gauges, and all the other hoopla this thing was sporting, you figure he'd take the time to build his motor right of he is going to run turbo AND nitrous.
But then again, ricers are funny creatures.

Stage 2, wtf is stage 2? enlighten me please lol.
HeavyChevySS 04-18-2004, 09:14 PM Stage 2? come on...don't you know what stage 2 is?
It's the stage just after Stage 1..LMAO
Just given ya sh&*...
It's probably an upgraded turbo/fuel system on a stock engine.
Good kill and great F&F story

My last car was a turbo dsm and there wasn't any real "stage two." Each performance site had their own set of staged upgrades. It's like saying intake and exhaust on our cars is "stage one" and then putting a cam in is "stage two" and so on. Everyone who gets into performance usually has their own way of upgrading their car.

Your probably right. Well said.
Just like my Pro1 heads, they have stage 2 porting but they are still FAR from being comparable to CNC machined !!

Most non-turbo owners usually go through Hahn when they want to go turbo. I believe they have a Stage 1-4, each one sports a different turbo, upgraded fuel injectors, FMIC, etc... if I'm not mistaken #2 is usually a 16G turbo and a couple other things, nothing too crazy. And obviously that turbo is gonna go much farther on the 4G63 turbo DSM motor than on the non-turbo models.

Yeah hahn racecraft is about 15 minutes away from my house, in oswego IL.
Red89GTA 04-19-2004, 11:52 AM NIce kill, though I'm not really surprised either :D .
A good friend has a 99 neon r/t with the Hahn racecraft stage 2 kit (I think). Whatever it is, its a 16G with an intercooler. Saturday he put down 214 hp and 208 lb/ft to the wheels. He basically has no problems with Mustang GTs or any rice around here. Oh yea, he also took a 911 carrera (2wd, non turbo) on the highway. The passenger was on his cell laughing his head off at the drive that he was just owned by a neon.
DarkHorse 04-19-2004, 12:50 PM Nice Jeff, how's the car been running?
Were you down on RT8 through Macedonia/Boston Heights area?
DarkHorse 04-19-2004, 12:53 PM LOL Jeff, i'm pretty sure that I know the car. I knew the owner that had it last year. His name is Dave and he used to work at the Midas in Akron on Arlington street. Pretty nice looking replica, they actually was claiming that it was the original car from the movie but....you know how that goes.
DrunkenMantis 04-19-2004, 01:01 PM How did you notice the nitrous tank in the trunk?

Yes sir, as a matter of fact the parking lot we pulled into when I was BS'ing with the other F-Bodys was the Mongolian BBQ place, across the street from Bob Evans.
Later on another friend tol me that it's pretty dangerous to go speeding/racing through there. I guess Boston Heights cops are real tough on that.
How's your car running? Ready to hit the track this year?

I could see it between the driver and passenger. I guess it was mounted where the rear seats should have been, not the rear hatch area.
DarkHorse 04-19-2004, 05:26 PM Bleh, we'll see. Waswa and I are installing the cam in a couple weekends, i'm waiting on all the parts now. Hopefully May 7th is the target date, not sure though. That Boston Heights area can be a pain with those cops.
