Strange 12 Bolt GP????97FormulaWS-6 04-18-2004, 08:52 AM Anyone else in the market for one of these??? I need one soon... 33 Spline, 1350 yoke, 3-ch ABS... super83Z 04-18-2004, 09:45 PM I would be up for one I had had my sights on the Moser though. What are the differences? 97FormulaWS-6 04-19-2004, 07:22 AM From what I've been reading the Strange seems to have a LOT less issues.. I've found quite a few people having problems with their Moser from the factory... But I really can't find much on issues with the Strange... Plus I've had really good luck with Strange, and I've been battling the rear axle of my car for 2 years now.. I want to be DONE screwing around... snksknr94 04-19-2004, 08:34 PM I'm really interested. Especially since my car is currently sitting in the driveway with a toasted rear. I was leaning toward the Moser, but I really like the Strange, Moser is just a bit less expensive. CLOKWRK 04-19-2004, 10:11 PM I'm going to be ready to buy in a couple of weeks! 94LegendMan 04-20-2004, 02:16 AM I would be interested... What would be the pricing? Is there any modifications needed for this? Or does this bolt right in? 94 NO TOP Z 04-20-2004, 10:09 AM I think I am long overdue for a 12 bolt... I'd be in too. CJ 04-20-2004, 11:58 AM Originally posted by 94 NO TOP Z I think I am long overdue for a 12 bolt... I'd be in too. Heh, me too. Count me in. super83Z 04-20-2004, 10:06 PM I am not saying I am definately in til I see a price. Anybody going to pick this up and shoot us a price on what you can do? darthrug 04-20-2004, 10:09 PM i'm deciding between a full exhaust and a 12 bolt so if the price is right it has the all the goodies and 4 channel abs i'm in. but i need to know soon i have a deal on headers that i dunno if want to pass up. but i really want a 12 bolt. tbyrne 04-21-2004, 10:23 AM We'll do this for 3 or more orders. The pricing will be $2079.99 for the rear and then you can add in the options. The rundown is - PRG210 Fully assembled and dyno tested rearend (less brakes). Features include 3.150" ID housing ends, 33 spline S/S axles, 1/2" studs,33 spline Torque Line posi unit, choice of 3 channel (center) or 4 channel (axle) ABS ring installed, ABS sensor installed, choice of caliper mounts (1993-'97 or 1998-'02), U-1602 S-series yoke(1350), cross over U-joint, u-bolts, chrome cover and your choice of US Strange standard gear set - 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10$2079.99. If your car has traction control you will need to send in your backing plates along with your axles so Strange can use the reluctor rings. $229.99 gmbbpcore Options: _If you can't have any vehicle downtime we can charge you $229.99 for a set of backing plates and send them to Strange to be build into your rear. After your 12 bolt is installed you'd send your stock backing plates to us and we'd credit you $175.00. This option is only available if your car does not have traction control or the ABS at the axles. The backing plates are only required for 1998+ cars. $229.99 Tom snksknr94 04-21-2004, 03:18 PM What would shipping costs look like, area code 85254. tbyrne 04-21-2004, 03:20 PM These rears are shipped freight collect. The costs will depend on the trucking company used along with location and if you need a lift gate. A rough estimate to you might be in the 150-175 range. tireburnin 04-21-2004, 04:26 PM How long is the GP good for? And the LT1 cars don't require any brake backing plate options correct? And just because I didn't see info on the site, is the rear cover just for looks or does it aid in strengthening the rear? 97FormulaWS-6 04-21-2004, 04:46 PM I'll be ordering Friday... Thanks Tom... darthrug 04-21-2004, 05:33 PM i have a 96 Z28 with abs and traction control do i need a rear end with 3 or 4 channel abs, i dont want to buy one and find out i either cant use it or it disables one of my abs or traction control cause of the wrong connector. darthrug 04-21-2004, 10:50 PM what is this super strength abs stuff? i've never seen it listed at moser before CamaroBoy96Z28 04-22-2004, 12:32 AM Originally posted by darthrug i have a 96 Z28 with abs and traction control do i need a rear end with 3 or 4 channel abs, i dont want to buy one and find out i either cant use it or it disables one of my abs or traction control cause of the wrong connector. Traction control is 4-channel, 2 sensors, one per axle. 3-channel is the one sensor located on the pumpkin with the reluctor ring. Unless you plan on deleting the ASR, you'll need the 4-channel. Theres an option for a super strength posi over the regular unit that comes standard. Only 3 more months or so and I can order my 12-bolt finally. Damn being poor..... Tom, I've always wondered, is there any possibility of getting 4.11s instead of 4.10s in the Strange 12-bolt? Too much strength cant hurt at all, especially with rears. super83Z 04-22-2004, 06:53 AM Hey tom any discount to not wanting any of that ABS stuff? Could I trade the ABS stuff for an aluminum cover or something? I am putting a 93-97 style rear in my 83 so I don't need all the ABS traction control stuff. darthrug 04-22-2004, 09:59 AM what are the benefits of the super strenght posi units tbyrne 04-22-2004, 10:25 AM How long is the GP good for? And the LT1 cars don't require any brake backing plate options correct? And just because I didn't see info on the site, is the rear cover just for looks or does it aid in strengthening the rear? We can have this go for about a week and a half (May 4th). This should be enough time for everyone. The rear covers is just for looks. It doesn't add any strength like the TA covers do. Tom, I've always wondered, is there any possibility of getting 4.11s instead of 4.10s in the Strange 12-bolt? Too much strength cant hurt at all, especially with rears. They only have 4.10s available. what is this super strength abs stuff? i've never seen it listed at moser before The Super Strength posi is an upgrade over the standard one that comes in the rear. This is recommended if the car will see any hard track time. Hey tom any discount to not wanting any of that ABS stuff? Could I trade the ABS stuff for an aluminum cover or something? I am putting a 93-97 style rear in my 83 so I don't need all the ABS traction control stuff. Yes. You can order the 12 bolt that isn't set up for ABS. The part # for that one is PRG200 - $1879.99 for the GP. This offer is now listed in the GP section of our website. Tom 94 NO TOP Z 04-23-2004, 01:37 PM Placed order:D (need 2 more guys) 97FormulaWS-6 04-23-2004, 02:43 PM Placed Mine this morning... 97FormulaWS-6 04-26-2004, 11:24 AM Come guys... we only need 1 more order!!!! darthrug 04-26-2004, 11:34 AM sorry found a better price on a moser. 94 NO TOP Z 04-26-2004, 04:22 PM Moser is a cheaper rearend but, you get what you pay for. There is a good chance you will have to shorten your driveshaft with the Moser and a lot of people get a lot of noise. darthrug 04-26-2004, 09:36 PM i havent heard anyone having problems with moser 97FormulaWS-6 04-26-2004, 09:43 PM I've heard of LOTS of issues with the Moser's.... Mainly Gear whine that's REALLY bad... Plus some vibration issues, and I'm not really a fan of how the T/A mounts either, not a good "replacement" design with the 4 bolts (That are KNOWN for backing out) instead of the stock 2-bolt design that the Strange uses. Plus the Strange is Dyno tested before shipment, I don't believe the Moser is (Seeing it doesn't come with the Axles installed) jmzlt1 04-27-2004, 06:20 AM Hi, guys, you got you're 3rd order now. :D I'm placing mine today. :) super83Z 04-27-2004, 07:42 AM I am placing mine on Friday! super83Z 04-27-2004, 07:43 AM Hey Tom any idea what the turn around will be? You know like how long til we get the rears? tbyrne 04-27-2004, 03:08 PM Order #3 came in today so we're working on charging those orders to get them in with Strange early. Someone's shipping address didn't come up as a match to the billing location so that is holding things up. Most of the Strange 12 bolts have been shipping a few weeks after they are ordered. We don't carry Moser but I believe they have to be assembled before you do the install? You only need to swap your brakes over to the Strange. Tom darthrug 04-27-2004, 06:02 PM i never got a reply to the pm i sent out matchin the other offer i got. i sent it to tom. tbyrne 04-27-2004, 09:08 PM My board PMs are turned off (to many boards, to many PMs). Just shoot an e-mail over to tbyrne@tbyrne.com. Thanks, Tom darthrug 04-27-2004, 09:09 PM email sent T/A man 04-29-2004, 03:20 PM I need to think about this but I might also order one. super83Z 04-30-2004, 02:28 PM I ordered mine today havn't got a confirmation email yet. Can't wait to see the rear. How long are we talking? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? tbyrne 04-30-2004, 03:21 PM You should see a confirmation this afternoon. I'll have a better idea on the lead time after I talk to someone up there later today or on Monday. Thanks, Tom jnjspdshop 05-01-2004, 02:25 AM Originally posted by 97FormulaWS-6 I've heard of LOTS of issues with the Moser's.... Mainly Gear whine that's REALLY bad... Plus the Strange is Dyno tested before shipment, I don't believe the Moser is (Seeing it doesn't come with the Axles installed) Funny I am a Moser dealer and I have never heard of LOTS of issues with their products. Richmond gears make more noise than factory. If you want quiet stick with stock rear and stock cars. Never heard of vibration issues, but if someone has vibration it would most likely be a driveshaft issue. There really isn't anything in the rearend to shake and cause vibration. The TorqueArm mount is fine all you have to do it use some red loctite on the 4 bolts. The Moser rear can't use the stock 2 bolt design because the physical size of the center section is larger on the Moser and will not allow for bolt pass through which would affect the structure super83Z 05-05-2004, 10:35 PM So is ther any idea when we will start seeing these. I need to be home to pay the guy so I would like to take the day off. CMGETSM 05-06-2004, 01:39 AM Is this GP still open to more orders? TCAL95Z 05-06-2004, 01:44 AM Mine took 3 months. You should call and confirm your shipping address too. Mine was going to the wrong place and would have cost me another $100 if I hadn't called Strange and happen to catch it. super83Z 05-08-2004, 09:31 AM WTF??   3months????????  I would have gone with the Moser if I knew that was the case??? Hey Tom can you shed any light on a delivery date? HAve you ordered them yet so I can call and ask them when it will get here? 97FormulaWS-6 05-09-2004, 08:18 AM expected shipping date is posted on Tbyrne's website... says 2 more weeks till shipment... TCAL95Z 05-09-2004, 10:32 AM the reason mine took so long is because the Heavy duty posi units were on back order. But I called several times and was told another week or two. I was initially told 6 weeks. After several times of not being able to get a date I called Strange direct and thats when I found out it was being shipped to the wrong address. I would make sure that you confirm your address tbyrne 05-09-2004, 12:10 PM This GP is no longer available but you can save money by ordering your rear on our website. Strange feel very far behind with their 12 bolt production over the winter. Some of them took about 3 months to go out. Things have been moving much quicker niow! SS MPSTR 05-10-2004, 06:55 PM Yeah, I got mine from TByrne, and it took forever and a day. Kudos to Tom and his staff though; they pressed Strange to get mine out to me as fast as they could (I had an order 'issue' - i.e. Strange misplaced it). Like said earlier, they really fell behind over the winter and it simply takes awhile to get the multitude of players that make parts for these back up to speed. | ||
