Highest milage to a tank today!

I could have gotten more but I dind't want to run the tank totally dry, needless to say I still got 352 kilometers to one tank city driving with my mods & crazy tunning, I figure I could of made it to 370 no problems but why kill the pump, so I filled up at 352 kilometers, I'm more then happy.

Soon I'll get even more because I have a problem with my pressure relief valve on the gastank, it always vents to atmosphere so when my gas evaporates from the muffler heat it doesn't go to the charcoal canister but goes right out into the atmosphere.

Like I said, its still pretty damb good with my mods!

Damn! How much do you pay for a full tank? I pay about 40 bucks of a full tank of 92, and I'm lucky if it lasts 290 km all city! :(

You run 92 in your VW Jim?

How come?
Does the manual call for that?

That's great Matt but check my new mileage thread. :thumb:

Umm... Yeah. Drumhawk, my milage before the mods was in the high 400's like 450+ all city to a tank, so much for LS1 milage, but with my huge cam & heads, 4.10's etc... everyone stays below 300, ie. 250-280 k to a tank, that is why I posted, because even after all my mods I managed to get 352 & still had more left in her, once I fix the evap system I'm hoping for another 10-20 k, I think this is a world record for all city driving & my mods.

I want a nice tune like that for my car when it's finished!!!
That means I should be able to get 450km's:confused:

thats damn good, im getting 420 per tanks with about 10 litres left before filling up, city driving.

yeah and the newer VWs require 91 octane and in return they provide crappy milage. should have gotten a tdi golf!!

How much do you think my cam and headers are going to kill my mileage ?

Im hoping the ewp helps out a little bit. I hate buying gas

Thats for children :) umm solid is alot bigger then hyd. its hyd thats softer, full mechanical is alot more aggresive. a true measurement of a cam is done at .050 cuz thats a standardized point to measure at. so all can be compared equally.

advertised changed alot from cam type to cam manufacturer cuz the point its measired is different and stuff like lash hasnt come into play etc. my advertised measurement was taken at .0194 which is pretty high to take the measurement. it runs in as 290/298 at that and at .050 where it all counts its 252/260, the cam is rated for ultimate high performance and bracket with bad ass everything, the cam rating is from 4000-7500, valve float comes into play at about 7900. you cant compare advertised durations especially with flat tappet style to roller designs. ramp rates, durations, lobe separations, and the ratings the cam gets like rpm ranges is the best way to compare. and as for 112 LCA;) dont worry, i would have run a 106 but i plan on using some nitrous later on and that was the best compromise. lowest LCA i could get for what i needed, it was either that or a 114:rolleyes: dont worry this is a full racing offroad cam and eventually you will hear how aggresive it is:)

on a side note, did you ever hear my 230 hyd flat tappet when i had my old combo, it idled rougher then everyones car way aggressive, this ones gonna be 4 times as bad.

your aggresive idle comes from the lack of "PCM" my car idles at 30* of advance & still sounds mean, I can always give her 8* like you old school guys & she'll sound like a freight train, start off the line like one too LOL :)

ill line up when im on the road. as for advertised that means nothing!! grrr .050 is the only measurement you can use for comparison, whats the rpm range of the cam etc. that tells you alot in how big it is. besides, even your advertised is measured at a different point then mine, mines measured way up the lobe at .0194" the standard measurement is always taken at .050" its at a point were the lobe is fully activated and all the variables are consumed. now stop stalin and post the specs:p mine is a full race spec cam, off road only, has no streetability to it whatsoever, will achieve about 10mpg, idle like a pro stock, and i need a vacume resovior to power my brakes with it, thats how big it is, hint, its the second biggest solid nitrous cam crane makes:cool:

his cam is a gm 847 cam

CRANE CAM: GM847-PN#12370847-234/242 @ 0.050 112-LSA and maximum lift with 1.5:1 rocker ratio (intake/exhaust) is 539/558.

you can look up the rest your self:D

on a car car his cam would need a vacuum pump as well(to a point), but i think he programmed it in a way that you wouldnt need a pump for braking. computer cars:bow:

both of you stop bickering and line up, i wanna see old school vs new school

its the other way round man. valve events and ramp rates are what determine the size of the cam, and this combined with the degreeing upon install determines the RPM range. For all you know Matt's upcoming cam could have steeper lobes then yours.

duration at 0.050 doesn't tell the whole story, you gotta consider ramp steepness, lift, ICL and lobe separation also

lets do it, we are comparing MPH not ET right? Because ET won't tell me if your faster then me, if my MPH is higher I'm considered faster, if your is then well so be it :)

I think whats funny is I was the same way, ET is what made my day, sure it was fun at the track, I got 12.8 while Payam was running 13.5's all day, Payam had a 6 speed & his MPH was higher aswell, on the way back from Mission my thoughts on ET chaged drasticly as all I could see was Payam's tail lights moving away when we both hit it on the HWY.

So which car is faster ?

Why don't you guys bet on RWHP? With only three gears in the th400, I don't think Jason will see huge MPH. The way i see it is Bunker is pushing close to 475 fwhp. Jason your going to need alot more fwhp to make the same at the wheels wth an auto and a 9 inch.

So which car is faster ? compare whatever, no matter to me. Et does tell you how fast you are, a drag race is everything included not just a bit of the top end. whats the point of only being able to go fast in the top end? 13 sec at 120mph isnt cool its embarrasing. not being to use what you got, thats not the way to do it at all. 100+kph and on, what about the rest, the launch etc. either way its not worth explaining, except for lets compare whatever. MPH, sure, ET, sure, HP sure. choose your poison. with my new combo ill still have a top speed of about 140ish mph with the 3 speed. trust me it will be over long before that :) i never have a need to go over that cuz, ill never see that speed at the track in the 1320'.

as for the car, i plan on running when its all tuned in and running, low low 11's and 120ish mph n/a, the motor combo will be an easy 500+hp n/a and i plan on hitting a 150 shot at the end of the year hopefully. and mike im gonna be sticking with the 8.5" this year mod it out and play with that. it will be a very efficient drivetrain, low drag. the car will be lightened and the chassis will be set perfectly. this car isnt gonna be the sme stocker combo that i was running last year. its a whole new ballgame now. plus ill give a hint on what kind of power to expect. i gots me some racing AFR's:cool: :D

EDIT: if your running street tires you can spin and gain fake mph, ill be running full slicks, more true mph. throw some stickes on then we can battle in outlaw, see if you can run me down in the top end, ill even let you leave first:)

unfortunatly your comparing apples to oranges, your car is set up for the drag strip, matts is for the street. you driving a drag car hes driving a daily driver. your car is stripped down, his has ten speakers and leather seats. your set up for the track, im not sure whos gonna accelerate faster but like you said, when you top off at 140, hes gonna keep going. as for slicks and outlaw, i dont htink matts ever gonna throw slicks on. should be an interesting race nonetheless, on the strip, id expect you to win, on the highway im expecting matt.
