No one running big singles that know what A/R housing they are using? or is this a top secret thing? lol just wondering.. i am currently going between a .96 and a 1.00 on the exhaust sie and the a .70 A/R on the compressor side. the turbo has a 70mm compressor wheel and a 64.5 P trim turbine wheel. can anyone comment or make a suggestion on this configuration?

I am building a 383 LT1 and i'm using a .96 tang on an Innovative GT80 DBB R-trim. Still under construction so I can't tell you how it feels yet. Should be soon.

I'm running a .96 A/R on a PTE 88. Will have some results soon.

I had an Innovative GT80 on my car with a 1.32 and .96 housings.

The .96 was very responsive, reaching full boost of 20psi by around 3500. Rolling into the throttle was tire destruction.

The 1.32 had much slower response, but also made another 50 rwhp @ 6k rpm. Full boost by around 4,400. This housing made the car much more tractable on the street. On a soft launch on drag radials, I could make a full pass on the street with minimal tire spin because the boost came in soft. It was trapping 138 at the time.

My last setup used a .85 on center housing. It was rather small, but I could see full boost before 3K (16psi) in 2-6th gear (first was just to quick to stay in it long enough)

My new setup is using twins with .68 A/R tangential housings.

Hey thanks guys.. I was looking at the .96 on a T70.. and i am thinking of going to the 1.00A/R i think i would enjoy having the responsiveness but also having the boost come on a little softer so tire changes are not a monthly maintenance...lol might even consider a 1.15 after hearing the results of the 1.32 housing!not looking for a huge hit of power as much as a smooth response and strong power throughout the curve. keep the commentary coming very educating!

On a T70 you probably don't want to run a .96 A/R. With a smaller unit like that a 1.15 would work well.

JZ 97,
can you elaborate on what characteristics you think the .96 would have with this size turbo? and again with the 1.15? I am ready to get one and would like to only do this once! Thanks for your input on the subject!

Well with the .96 A/R on that smaller T70, that sucker will spool VERY quick. Probably to quick for the street to make the car even halfway fun other then to burn rubber. With the larger A/R, it will allow the car to plant the tires and get it rolling before the boost hits, plus the boost won't shock the tires as hard. The larger the A/R not only the later will it spool, but also the softer the boost will come in.

roger that.. after the input recieved here i am ordering the 1.15 A/R as that sounds more motor and tire friendly! thanks a bunch!
