NONO5.0 04-16-2004, 10:09 PM Ok, I'm sure this subject has been beat to death....but I'm a newbie to N2O and know NOTHING about it. I have a stock bottom end with about 80k on the clock and I'm wanting to add a nitrous kit to the car but don't know what to go with (ie kit number, type, wet, dry etc) I'm only wanting to go with a 75 to 100 shot though and was wondering if you guys could recommend a good setup. Here are my current mods:
'95 T/A M6 (used to be an A4)
Stock thermostat
Stock injectors
No Air pump system
Moroso cold air induction kit
AS&M 52 mm throttle body
No CAT (straight pipe)
TPIS 1 3/4 shortie headers
LT4 knock module
Ported/polished MAF (removed screen)
Flowmaster Muffler
LT4 HotCam
Ported LT1 heads
2.00/1.56 Manley race flow valves
Crower Springs, Chromemoly locks and retainers Good to .580 lift
Comp Cams screw in studs and guide plates
1.6 GM Rocker Rollers
Flow as follows:
.100 71/62
.200 133/112
.300 187/157
.400 219/185
.500 248/192
.550 258.5/193.5
BTW, any guesses at what a 75 shot with the above mods would put me at HP wise or 1/4 times?
Thanks for any help!
400hp ss 04-17-2004, 02:29 AM I dont know what your car would do on the bottle but my 97 ss with a hot cam, heads, intake, long tubes, y-pipe ,borla and alot more with a 125 wet put down 460 hp 515 fp to the tires, not bad for the hot cam. I would get some nittos if you dont have them and spray that hot cam.
NONO5.0 04-17-2004, 11:19 AM Thanks for the info! What kit are you running? Did you change out the rear end or is it stock? That was another thing I was worried about.
Thanks again!
pgriffith 04-18-2004, 12:50 AM ive seen stock bottom end lt1's take 150 shots. my v6 had daily 100 shot. you will easily be able to take 100 shot. I would reccomend a NX wet kit. Its a awsome kit.
steelheart 04-18-2004, 07:37 PM im running a hot cam with a 150 wet compucar shot with out any trouble, in fact im gonna step it up to a 175 shot :) you should be fine on a 150 shot, just dont abuse it :)
T/A lt1 04-21-2004, 05:13 PM Back when I ran the Hotcam and a NX kit my car ran 12.30-40's@108-110mph N/A and 11.50's@117mph on a 125 shot regulalry. It put down 320rwhp N/A and 420rwhp with a 100shot. That cam likes some n2o. :D I would change the fuel pump for safety sakes b/c once I swapped cam, injectors and started making more power the stock pump couldn't keep up and burned up a headgasket and a piston on a 150shot.
formula383 04-23-2004, 12:20 AM I would say to spray it. I just put a TNT kit on mine. I also agree with T/A lt1, go ahead and put in a good fuel pump when you do it. I went with a RaceTronix pump.
526 SS 96 04-25-2004, 01:18 PM I would not worry about using n20. I ran the hot cam and a NX wet kit all last year and loved it. It put down 346 RWHP & 345 RWTQ N/A and 475 hp & 499 TQ w/ 150 shot. It went 11.21 @ 122 MPH on the gas, and went 11.3 @ 126 with a 200 shot, this was a completely stock engine (minus the hot cam). I would definetly go with a bigger fuel pump. I didn't have any luck with the Racetronix 340 lph in tank, It failed miserably past 4500 rpm on a 150 shot. I think I may have had a defective pump, but try telling that to the guy I bought it from, so I just built a custom fuel system instead of dealing with that guy. The new system definatly gives me room to grow ;) I have a BG King Sumo 1000 LBH (aprox 670 LPH) fuel pump -10 custom sump, -8 supply, -8 y/block, -8 to each rail, -6 return to an aeromotive vac. assist regulator. My fuel system is the definition of over kill, and is not nessicary for your set up. A 255lph in tank pump should be enough.
tireburnin 04-26-2004, 06:36 PM Spray that car like there is no tomorrow. Hotcams love N20.
I have a hot cam/mild head(stock valves)/bolt ons and a 100 shot. I went 12.5 at 111 n/a (1.95 60') and 11.8 at 124 (1.9 60')on a 100 shot. This was with my auto in the car with stock suspension.
Another guy in my club with a hotcam/Lt1 third gen went 11.01 at 126 on a tnt 150.
Hot cam's are fine. Enjoy the spray and don't be stupid with it.
ZPaul2Fresh8 04-26-2004, 10:35 PM Hotcam has a 112 LSA :D
<-- I'll be spraying my Hotcam'd Z into 10s :p
formula383 04-27-2004, 10:36 AM Good luck with the 10's ZPaul2Fresh8, that is one of my goals for the year as well, that and low 12's NA.
ZPaul2Fresh8 04-27-2004, 12:54 PM Thanks. I ran 13.0 with stock gears/converter and damaged trans....
I'm confident 12.8 is possible with the new'r trans. With a 3000-3200 Vigilante & 3.73s, I'll be hoping for 12.2-12.0. But do we ever get what he hope for at the track?
My trans is being race built at the moment since I ruined something in it LOL...
Looking to skip 11s all together with a 150 shot :-D.
Hotcam and Stock heads

Oops was thinking of the CC305 for a second. Gonna edit that.
formula383 04-27-2004, 03:43 PM I think your times are attainable with good traction and everything. good luck.
I have gotten a 12.7 but I know there is more in it. I have added a new fuel pump, and an electric water pump so far. Also bought a laptop so hopefully I can get it tuned in right and get some good times out of it. I think I should be able to get low 12's.
