My b-day gift

OK my b-day isn't untill the 26th. I come home from work today and I walk in the door and my pops asks if I want to have my gift. I tell him it's not for another week(if you knew him you'd understand:D ) and if he really wants to give it to me now. He says yup. So he got me a Clarke 2hp air compessor :shock: SWEEEET. I would never have expected this. So he is bringing home a catolouge for power tools. On top of mods I am now going to have to spend money on tools. Ouch. Just in time to do my suspension too. Perfect. Just thought I would share.

Id suggest just buying cheaper CH airtools for now. They will last a long time if you keep them oiled and a small compressor will not run some of the bigger tools very well. Stay away from tools that use large amounts of air. To start Id suggest an impact gun, air rachet, air nozzle and maybe an air hammer and die grinder depending on what work you do. For the die grinder its better to buy a strong one though. Youre gonna love air :D

On a side note I have a funny air compressor story I want to subject you guys to .

Ok so my buddie hates Christmas right and hes always bitching his family never gets anything he puts on the list . Every year everyone has to make a list and so he does. So this year is no different and he makes a really detailed , pain stakingly easy to follow list including part numbers and stores , even contact info of people that can help them get the right items. Now hes sure they cant **** up cause everything is in place . **** my cat could but the right stuff with this list.

Anyways a couple days after Xmas I ask him how it went and what he got as he looked kinda pissed off . ( On his list was a timing light, two way frs radios etc nothing crazy or $$$ but some neet stuff for his cars ) . Anyways turns out they all chipped in on one gift instead of a bunch of little ones and got him an air compressor and some lines . The only problem is that this thing is literally the size of a footbal or small water melon. This thing is soooooooo ****ing small you cant even plug the line in without it turning on and having to re fill the tank . Hes like WTF am I going to do with this and there all like :confused: . That was all he got that year .

That has to be the worst Xmas Evar except if you live in like iraq or Albania :bow::Owned:

I second the impact gun . I recommend the bluepoint composite , its soooo lite weight and fairly inexpencive but has alot of umph . Id also sudgest a nice cut off tool , handy all the time . :bow:

Thanks for the suugestions guys, I know I wont be getting anything too expensive. My dad got the compressor through a guy at his work for a really good deal and the guy is going to give my dad the catalouge for some other air tools. This guy hopefully can get me some good deals on the tools also. But if he cant is there a good place to look for tools???

I hate the composite (plastic) blue points. They are light, but the balance is the ****s. Its way too nose heavy and beats up your wrists. The gun I want is the IR titanium. 1000ft/lbs and only 4lbs :eek: Guy I work with has one, damn nice. About $340 though. To start just go to the cheap tool places and buy a $40 Campbell Hausfeld gun and a $50 air rachet and a small container of air tool oil. They will last a long time and bang out 90% of the bolts on cars. Homedespot, princess auto etc carry them I think.

imo, if youre not a "professional" you dont need to blow away all your money on snap-on tools.


id definatley get an impact gun. ive got a IR 231 and its sweeeeet and not that loud.. only 195$ from kms tools....

I too am getting a B-day present. I'm moving into my new place this weekend and there's a chance that I'll be getting a 4 post hoist to go in my garage!!!!! Let the mods begin!!!!!!!!!!:p

Musky, talk to me before buying a hoist. I know a little more about them than most and can give you a little advice before buying.

I just asked my dad and he said the compresser was about $300. And he got it for $130, so he got a pretty good deal. I will see what kind of deals I can get on tolls through this guy.
