I Hate Pine Trees!

As you can probably guess from the subject of this thread, I have to park under pinetrees at my apartment complex. I've heard different things about ways to get pine sap off your paint, but I was wondering if you guys had any ideas? I've heard mineral spirits and rain-x... The rain-x idea makes me a little nervous... Any suggestions?:confused: :confused:

Rain X right on the bottle says never, ever get it on the paint, I would try some denatured alcohol or some 3M Wax and grease stripper...

Welcome to the Forum. If you get sap right away then warm water will usually work, after it's on your car for a while you will have to use a tar remover or clay your car.

thanks for the welcome AND the help... It's a never ending process... once I get it off, more gets dropped...

only other thing i could think to do in that situation would be to throw a car cover over your car like overnight to try to prevent that. however that would be a major pain in the a**. you could just pick up a cheap on for like $30 at wallmart. thats were i found mine cheapest i could find. i stored the car over winter with the cover no scraches or anything. its just would you rather take the time getting sap off every once in awhile or take a car cover on and off all the time. i dont know which i would do myself its a lot of work ether way.

I hear ya bigfoot... My fiance suggested that but my car is my daily driver, so... that's a negative. If it was just my toolin' around car, I would buy a car cover for it.... But thanks anyways!! :)

That is the best solution, too bad it costs so damn much. I have 2 massive pine trees in my front yard which drip over half of the circular driveway, always dripping sap on my 4Runner. I use the Turtle Wax Bug & Tar remover spray and it works pretty good and leaves the paint with a nice wax gloss. :cool:

I'd LOVEEEEE to take the trees down but I think my apartment complex might get pissed :p I'll have to try that turtle wax stuff.... My car needs to be washed and waxed BIG TIME! I just need an extra few hours in the day! :( :cry:

A car cover is not that big of a deal. I have a daily driver and I cover it always. Takes about 30 seconds for me to roll it up and put it in the trunk. Well worth it especially when my car stays clean for 2 weeks at a time;)
