I have had a decent year. It started kind of slow and took me a while to get beyond the second round but by July I was on a roll and had started collecting some hardware. :)
Made it to the finals last weekend and in the semi's eliminated the number two guy in my class which means I only have to stage the car this coming weekend to win the season points title.
Yea I'm bragging for a bit, but heck, the season started in April and positions 2 through 8 are still within 4 rounds of racing. Anyway I guess I'll be at the IHRA Division III Bracket Finals in Norwalk this year and as an added bpnus have an opportunity to compete in the Race of Champions.
Yea. I feel good.
How is everyone else doing?
bestracing 09-17-2002, 06:25 PM We had a very slow start this year . We changed out the rear gear from a 4.88 to a 4.56.. Old set was broken and we wanted to try something new. Most of the beggining of the season was rained out when we did race we lost first round:o. Had our delay box die at the end of July so we took it out and started to run in the Pro bracket (10.00 to 13.00 sec 1/4 mile / No Box). First race without the box went two rounds before loosing. Next race went to the quarter Finals :D and every race after that we won the first round and red lighted the second (three total).
We will be racing for one more month and then the car will be put up for the winter.
SABLT194 09-17-2002, 09:01 PM Won early, then broke a lot of stuff. Came back for some RU's and 3 and 4 rounders. Ended 3rd in street points. Heading to Cecil County for Division 1 NHRA finals nex week. Pretty happy with my M6 results.
More Power for next year!!!!!!
So-so year, no wins yet. Had a couple RU's and a ton of losses in the semis. Changed the car up alot over the hottest summer months and got a little rusty, but it's coming back quick. Hope to gather a win or two in the last few months of racing.

Guido 09-18-2002, 11:40 AM What year?
I havent even had my car running this year. Matter of fact, its been in the garage just a hair over a year now since i broke the trans at the NFRA race.
Car underwent a total transformation. But it should be ready to start this weekend!
cASe SenSiTive 09-18-2002, 11:48 AM Finally got the car running again late in May, and went to the track the first weekend in June. I promptly broke.:(
Turned out to be a bad MAF.
Been futzing with the car to get it all back together(putting interior back in, cleaning up ugly looking installs, etc.). Gonna go to the track this weekend.

chevyguy3 09-18-2002, 03:01 PM my year hasnt started yet :(. maybe in a week or two...
kazman 09-19-2002, 04:07 PM Not a good "rookie" season for me. Got several drag racing lessons but learned alot. Biggest problem I have is getting consistant 60' times with the M6. I finished 29th (about the middle) in the street class. I did win the Trophy class in back to back weekends. Formula was broken for 5 races and I ran my tow car , 2002 Trailblazer. By the time I got use to the truck (16.70's woo woo) I was back in the Formula and starting all over again. Another problem is that I made a major change to the Formula in the middle of the season. Again had to get use to the car all over again.
SABKT94: What size ET Streets do you run and are your 60' dead on? I take by your finish that you can either run very consistant or you dial easy and are a killer on the top of the track. I'm getting tired of winning on the lights just to give it back at the end of the track because I can't run on my number(spin a little on the launch) or break out (hooked a little better than normal on the launch).
I'm ready to retire the Formula and run my automatic 69 GTO next season.
All in all I can't wait for next season.
Joe Brodman 09-19-2002, 05:04 PM Another "what year" person. :(
I didn't get the car together until the end of may. Then had injector problems (including a leaky O-ring injector that caused a small engine fire), oil leak problems (bent valve cover and some out of the timing cover), bad injector harness, and some other small BS. Hell, I've maybe driven the car 500 miles since the heads/cam install....and that's only because I took it on a couple decent trips!!!
I just need to toss in my 255 fuel pump, do a little more tuning, and then see how she does on the spray again. :) MAYBE she will get to the track once this year, for a test and tune. I think I'll borrow a truck/trailor and tow her, since I haven't broken anything at the track this year (since I haven't ran this year), tradition tells me I'll be towing her home. :(
zturbo 09-19-2002, 08:05 PM My year has been fun but no racing unfortunatly everything that was lined up crapped out on me.
Headers are good on my car and started on the new torque arm now. The Spohn t/a hit the ground last night and the new one was started should be bitchin looking The front is similar to the one Billingsley was advertising for a while but faded away.
The torque arm itself is going to be fully adjustable in the front with the way we have it setup.
Motor is set with the new heads and ready to rock and roll. I am going to send the intake to hogan for a few minor alterations but when it gets back I am set.
Sounds like alot had some fun racing this year.

mod313 09-19-2002, 08:23 PM My year has been both good and bad.
Good stuff:
quickest and fastest et and mph for this car, started to get it pretty consistent about mid year, finally got opportunity to run in stock eliminator at IHRA Nat'l event at Epping and seeing improvement on tree (though I really hate it when I pull a 5teen light and get change back from other guy).
Bad stuff:
Many early season troubles ranging from brake issues with not being able to hold car still on line, three bad tranies in a row with only 1 pass between them, carb that flat refuses to cooperate at times, motor issues with tow vehicle, etc.
Highlight of year was the whole weekend of the Nationals. If any of you ever get the opportunity to run at a National event take advantage of it. The stock deal was something I have wanted to do for many years but never before had a real opportunity until this year. So the car was slow compared to normal bracket trim as well as compared to similar combos (which was very hard to get accustomed to, especially given tranny deal wiped out test days) but at least it was under the index and I was there.
All in all though, no matter what happens good or bad, there's always the next event.
I had a pretty good season so far. The IHRA events are always a ton of fun. I missed the top ten in my Division by two rounds, hopefully I will do better next year.
Mod 313, glad to see that you made it to a National. I hope that you have better luck with your car. Do you plan to run more next year?
I will have the new Camaro at Rockingham and am hoping for good results.

mod313 09-22-2002, 05:03 PM Daren,
I hope to have a class motor done over the winter, most likely the 400-4bbl combo. How much gets done will depend on the usual budget deal. The one good thing that came out of the tranny mess is that won't need the regular freshening.
Good luck with the new Camaro.

Pro Stock John 09-23-2002, 06:20 PM My car had a weird backfire problem that turned out to be bad pcm tuning..... Took so long to figure out that I had new engine parts on the way...
I went 11.04@122mph last week on a 1.53 at 2200 DA, 7.0 and 98 1/8th looks great but 2-3 shift is too low and car fell off on the big end...
Installing Colonel's old 10.06 converter and FTRA both should get me closer to my goal.
TA Jack 09-23-2002, 08:04 PM I qualified first in back to back races in NMCA EFI G class 12.00. 500 pro tree against trans brake cars with me foot braking my 98 TA A4. Went to semis and finals but havent won yet. Anybody make a trans brake for a 4L60E? Last race is Columbus Ohio this weekend and I am going to be there.
zturbo 09-24-2002, 12:00 AM Check with art carr in cali. Heard he was working on one but not sure.

V6toZ28 09-25-2002, 01:27 PM Well second year racing and roookie year in NHRA Summit. Raced in Sportsman and simply got my *ss handed to me all year. Only made it out of the first round once.
Wednesday Night Street Legal Drags is better. Almost always make the quarters and usally the semis. 3 finals so far this year, 1 win two losses.
As far as the car goes, its running consistent mid to low 12s with bolt ons and pushed it to a 12.12 once this summer. Hope to see a bolt on 11 sec time slip this winter :D ... not bad for a daily driver

Looks like we did the same thing this season. Seems like we have simular skill levels too. Sure is a lot harder going against seasoned hard core bracket racers. I did get better this season. I'm already looking forward to next season. :D
