I'm going to probably switch from K&N to a Holley filter and was wondering if there is a place local that sells them. Best Buy? Mopac? I think I remember someone saying Mopac sells them but that was a long time ago. And do you guys know if I can just keep my K&N filter cleaner kit and use it on a powershot filter? Thanks guys!!!!
i'd like to know this as well.
i think lordco carries em.

Is there any gains to be seen from this change? What is different between the two filters?

There is essentially no difference between the K&N filter and the Holley Power Shot filter. The only difference between the two filters is the color (i.e. K&N = orange, Holley Power Shot = blue). I believe K&N actually manufactures the Holley Power Shot filter for Holley, along with several others for different manufactures. I would just stay with K&N they have been in the business of making reusable cotton filters now for ten years. Also they are the only ones to offer a million mile warranty on their own filters.
the reason why alot of ppl go with the holley is cause it seals much more better then the KN. the KN is horrible for fitment.

Well the reason i am going to switch is because as you know that K&N does not manufacture a filter for the 96+97 SS airbox. The fit of the K&N filter is not perfect and I have heard that the Holley fits well and is also a great filter. So I was wondering where I could pick one up. Thanks guys.

Weird, nobody knows of any places that sell Holley Powershots around here  I really thought someone would have one and tell me where they got it. Iwill have to do some field work myself. Thanks

I know a local (Abbotsford) supplier where I can get Holley power shot filters, but they would have to order it in. Which will take time and there would be a mark-up on it greater then on a similar K&N filter.

I know Mopac WILL sell them...they are a direct distributor of Holley products...
I think a better idea would be to find a K&N or Moroso cold air kit. I have heard there are HUGE gains with that mod over the SS design...ask Musky how his turned out:D

Well if a CAI will show a power increase over the SS airbox then I will think about switching. I will definately look into this. But I think for now and untill I can get a cash flow up I will just look into the Holley.
Why did Musky get a huge increase after he changed to a CAI? Did he get dyno results? Thanks!!!

I have the Holey filter and got it through Lordco.
The main dif is that it is especially made to fit (at least for an LS1 intake), whereas k/n is a half-azz filter with a gasket that doesn't fit that well. So, it is a better fit for ls1's - don't kow bout lt1.
The reason why the colour is different is only becuz of the cleaner - both k/n and holley are the same colour filter, it just goes red if you use the k/n cleaner spray or blue if using holley.
I have heard that the holley cleaning spray is sensor safe so if it gets on your MAF, etc... it won't cause Long term damage, whereas K/N cleaning spray has apparently done so.
Thats about it.

Thanks Chriss, I appreciate it. I have read that the Hollet's fit is better than the K&N. I guess I will use my K&N cleaner untill it runs out and then pick up the Holley stuff. Thanks!!!
hey chris, how much was the filter?
