FlyBono24 04-11-2004, 09:11 PM I believe these are just the stock springs and shocks, but they advertise them as having "less than 5 miles" on them...
These are a pretty good deal, and I'm pretty sure I'll see a big difference if I have them put on. (122,000+ miles vs. less than 5 miles.... yeah I think so!)

FlyBono24 04-12-2004, 06:59 PM I was wondering why there was no response.... I never really asked a question.
My question was: Is this a good value or can I get the stock ones cheaper elsewhere?
I know the aftermarket Bilstein's go for like $600 a set, so these seemed pretty good for slightly used shocks AND springs!
Xride 04-12-2004, 07:10 PM its a good deal, but the stock shocks lick ass.
FlyBono24 04-12-2004, 07:49 PM Well it doesn't mention whether they are off of just any car, or off of an SS model. Doesn't that make a difference?
I just assumed since it's SLP, then they were takeoffs from an SS or WS6, or similar frame.

They would be take offs from a SS or WS6..... but taking the crappy stock z28 and ta shocks off to place the nice bilstien and eibach SLP parts.
so its the pre ss or ws6 parts, or rather transitioning I guess...
errr in anycase is the stock crappy z28 suspension,
jsut like the SLP take off wheels are the salid shooters and the 5 spokes, but not the ZR1's or whatever the WS6 gets.
FlyBono24 04-12-2004, 08:49 PM Ahh okay... I guess they would still be better than the shocks and springs on my car with 122,xxx miles on it. :)
ru2slo_99 04-13-2004, 01:55 PM People can talk about how crappy they are, but I bought a set of shocks from SLP for $50 and my car now rides a lot better then the busted 100,000 mile shocks I had. I dont give a crap about turning fast and I dont have much money, so the SLP shocks were perfect for me.

you mean the stock GM POS's
Find a SS or WS6 with the SLP suspention, and tell me what one rides better?
The stockers suck, even the "more harsh" SLP ones make the ride much nicer. its jsut rides that much better, and can keep up with the bumps in the road.
Bilstein HD's can easily be had for $330 or less. Revalved HD's go for $450. Sam Jr. @ www.stranoparts.com revalves them.
I don't know where you get a price of $600 from.

That's the entire sentence-it's kind of confusing. He just mentions Bilstein shocks. The shocks and springs he's referring to ("these" was what he said) are the $85 shock and spring take-offs from SLP if you read it in context.
Bilstein doesn't make springs unless he's talking about the oddball coilovers Bilstein makes which nobody seems to have. He could be talking about the SLP LevelI/II package but again those springs are made by Eibach.

Makes sence now, just had to read it again.
Not sure what hes talking about? but must be with the eibach springs???
For 600 he must mean the Level I package from SLP.
Anyways the stock shocks are an improvement over old worn out ones, but don't forget the labor on the front shocks. If you're going to keep the car a while I'd rather do it once and get Bilstein HD's for around $300. Or if you want to be amazed get revalved Bilsteins for $450 or so. Shocks are really the single biggest improvment I've ever made to the suspension on my f-body. They're the weak link.
I've had SFC's, STB's, shocks, springs, sway bars, lca's, phb and the shocks are the best bang for the buck handling wise-followed by a bigger front bar.
FlyBono24 04-14-2004, 07:26 PM $600 was on the SLP website... their set of 4 Bilstein shocks, AND springs too. (They didn't mention what kind of springs)
