will a zo6 tranny swap into a 00 TANEOS97SS 04-11-2004, 08:11 PM my buddy has an M6 00 TA, so its a tremec t56 and i was wondering if we could swap a zo6 m12 in its place, anybody know what the differences are other then gear ratios and if it will work. mullettour 04-11-2004, 08:42 PM Well C5's have a transaxle where the transmission is mounted to the rear axle as opposed to being mounted to the engine. I really don't think it would work. NEOS97SS 04-11-2004, 11:01 PM i havent looked yet but dont you think that the actual transmission itself would be the same, given the bell housing and what not it bolts to would definetly be different and maybe the tailshaft but the basic transmission you would think would be the same size and design., i dont know though, im only guessing, anybody else have any idea about this sort of thing ls1speed2000 04-12-2004, 12:06 AM get a tranny out of a cts v or a gto they are the same ratios as the z06 and will bolt in NEOS97SS 04-12-2004, 12:35 AM where can i find a cts v or a gto m6 for sale NEOS97SS 04-12-2004, 10:54 AM hello, anybody out there, need info Injuneer 04-12-2004, 11:56 AM Originally posted by NEOS97SS where can i find a cts v or a gto m6 for sale CTS-V is a Cadillac, running the Z06 engine, available from any Cadillac dealer... about $50K.... probably commanding a $5K "premium" for availability. GTO is available from any Pontiac dealer, probably at least $40K with the typical premium over list they are asking. After you take the tranny out, I'll be glad to take what's left of the car off your hands. :D Did you read "mullettour"s answer.... the Z06 tranny in the C5 is mounted in the back, integral with the rear axle. The input is an engine speed driveshaft. The chances of any external parts actually matching are somewhere between "0" and "none". You might be able to interchange the gear ratios or some of the upgraded parts. There's a picture of a C5 M12 on this page: http://www.idavette.net/hibz06/page4.htm What are you trying to accomplish with the swap.... you get a larger "step" in the 1->2 shift, and smaller steps on the 2->3 and 3->4 shifts, then a huge gap for 5th gear O/D. | ||
