honestly it was cake compared to what i had been hearing. i was hearing stories of 2 people taking 2-3 days to complete it...i managed it in just over 10hours taking my time. that was spread over 3 days of "after work" work.

there were no hassles that took more than 5min to overcome...well besides having trouble getting damn car high enough...multiple combos of blocks, jacks and jack-stands :mad:

i reccomend it to anyone...it was awesome

www.tbyrne.com has them on sale right now...if that helps.

honestly though, i would reccomend changing the motor mounts to prothan poly mounts while you have the manifolds off. it would make it 50x easier than just doing the mounts alone and they are stiffer so that engine twist is minimized (almost eliminated) so that you don't have any clearance problems with the ypipe and frame

yeah i think one thing that helped me "mentally" was that i only had 2-3 hours after work each day to work on it. i would set a goal for each day, then usually stop after i met it. goal the first day was to get the plugs, wires, coil pacs off...managed that and to break all the manifold bolts free.

that way i didn't get tired and frustrated.

wow...i take that as a compliment :)

glad to help out some fellow fbody guys...i know how intimidating it was for me to start the project. heck i waited nearly a year to do it cause i was worried about the problems with the install.

Is the engine vibratration a lot more than with the original mounts? If it's not that bad, then I will probably replace the mounts when I get my headers. I just need to wait until income tax check comes! Hopefully Tbyrne still has them on sale.

i did the motor mounts and the torque arm mount, and there was NO added vibration.

i would think if you had a rough running engine, say one with a nasty cam, you'd notice it more.

like i say, even if you do notice a little gain, the benefits of your engine barely moving when reved is worth it...specially with tight clearances with the frame that headers and orp's have.

:D yeah i installed them, by myself in the driveway.

describe the power gain you mean? that's not easy.

background: car had everything in the sig, with manifolds, a bassani ORP and a magnaflow muffler. the muffler was connected with tubing that was "compression bent" from a crappy shop. when i removed it i realized that the section over the axle was barely 1/2 the actual 3" dia due to the bend...it sucked.

so now the car has the LTs, orp, a bullet muffler on the end of the ypipe and 3" mandrel bent pipe running over hte axle and ending (where a normal muffler would attatch). considering the restrictions of the manifolds and the crappy pipes, the power gains were HUGE. top end is just down right sick. i would say easily a 25hp gain.

this is far and away the most noticable and enjoyable power gain modification that i have done thus far. the ramair and lid were noticable, but not as much as these headers. and the sound is to die for (basically like a dynomouth but not tips)
