Tonight I was coming home from work and my car started acting like it had a messed up carb or something. In the lower gears it seemed to struggle to keep the engine running. Is this a fuel problem, or is this the great misfire problem that 97's have?

How many miles does it have?
Has the fuel filter ever been changed?

It has 25000 miles. I doubt the fuel filter has ever been changed (I bought it used). This problem did come on fast, I drove it to work, but when I went home, it started clunking. Oh well, it's in the shop now.

That hapend the same way on the last 2 cars that went down because of a fuel filter.
1 was an RX7 and the other was a skyline both guys came to work in the morning and when they left that day there cars ran like sh!t when the broke, hmmm.... right about the time the tempture started staying above freezing more than a day at a time.
There cars broke down about 2 days apart.

Wow, that sounds like me. I hope I'm not paying 85 bucks an hour to have a fuel filter replaced. Wait... maybe I should hope that's all that's wrong... but... argh!!! I'm so confused! ;)

Don't worrie about paying labor 4 an RX7 fuel filter install it was all most $100 for just the filter.
You can get a new one for about $40 and put in your self with just plyers and a screw driver most likely.

Fuel filter = > $10
One hour, with a beer break in between, job. Tops.

Well, turns out it was plug number 6. Changed the fuel and air filter for good measure.

If it happens again, it may be your coils but I doubt it at 25,000 miles... did you change all 6 of your plugs or just the misfiring one?

Just number 6. I'm going to go along with the FAQ posted here and get some new wire covering.
