I have a 96 Formula and need an alarm for it. I don't want to spend a ton but want a good alarm to keep it somewhat safe. I would also like the remote start option as well. Does anyone have one they would suggest? I have a GM alarm on it but can't get it to work correctly and the dealership won't touch it. So I'm fed up with it and want something better. Does anyone know what brands to stay away from? I saw a Clifford 3.5x or whatever for 300 new, but that seems kinda high for me. Anyone know about like Bulldog security or Design Tech?
Thanks,
Aron

dont know about the other 2 alarms listed but the clifford rsx 3.5 is a good alarm. I installed one in my 90 Firebird, and I installed one in my wifes sonata. I personally like alarms made by DEI.
I got my Viper 550 ESP for $135 off ebay at xmas '03 time. Installed it myself. Has the remote start and everything. :)

Do the alarm self installs take lots of splicing? I'm fairly familiar with my electronics and wiring but i was just curious. Also is it worth getting an alarm with a perimeter sensor? I live in NYC and alarm here seems like a worth while investment although i park in my garage overnight.

A remote start installed will take some splicing, the best way in my opinion is to solder the wires then wrap them in tape. Some people use T-Taps but i'd rather solder so i know the connection is good.
These are some of the wires you will have to find and tap into.

As for the paremeter sensor, I have one for my Firebird I like having it you just have to spend a little time adjusting the zones so its not constantly being triggered, otherwise if you have a 2 way pager alarm you remote will be beeping alot.
