2001 Z28 wheels

Hello everyone.

I'm looking to finally get rid of the snow tires on my 01 Z. I originally had 16" wheels on there (which are now exclusivley used for my snow tires). I'm looking to get 17" wheels as a compromise between $ and performance.

Now, the question: Does anyone know how much the 2001 16" wheels weighed, or where I can find out? (They were just the 16" aluminum, not the chromed ones, if that makes a difference.)

The reason I ask is because I do a bit of autocross, and I want to make sure I don't increase the unsprung weight. Depending on how much, I'd even like to decrease it a bit, but we'll see.

Any comments/suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know where I could get some 17" 10-spoke SS wheels. My Z-28 is craving some. ;)

Honestly..... Ebay has everything... just search 17x9 or 17x11 and you can pick up a set.

the 16" wheels from what I understand were the absolute lightest wheels ever offered on any Fbod..

Thats pretty kewl.. I love mine and will be keeping mine.. I may just powder coat the flourescent yellow or black.. not sure yet..

Check Brent's (BrentZ, LT1 Tech moderator) website. He has weights for a huge list of F-body components, including at least some wheels. ;)

one complaint. the wheels arrived all boxed nice and neat... and i got S I X T E E N wonderful lugnuts! to bad the wheels have a five-star bolt pattern and i had to order a new set of lug nuts cause i was four short... >_<

chrome will not add enough weight to make any sort of difference.

Try Gm Parts direct. I got my 35th rims from them.

Hey tekker, how much did the shipping from SLP cost? I've seen the wheels go for 390 on ebay, but I might buy from SLP if it costs less after shipping.

Ebay is probably the cheapest

Even if they are lighter, they will still take more power to turn them. The reciprocating mass is farther away from the hub, which is what really matters.
