cleaning chrome rimssky0787 04-05-2004, 03:37 PM Anyone have any clue how to get the brake dust spots off of chrome rims? Mine are starting to look pretty pathetic.. they are in need of some TLC :( Thanks Black_Z28 04-05-2004, 04:02 PM Most chrome rims are clear coated, so it doesn't take much to clean them. You could also get some chrome cleaner. ;) krazzycowgirl 04-05-2004, 04:12 PM you would either want to take the wheels off to get them really clean in & out or get a SOFT wheel brush to clean them off. one that can really get in to do all little corners. Yea Get something like MOTHERS Chrome cleaner & Polish sky0787 04-05-2004, 04:37 PM sweet.. at like Autozone or NAPA? stang_killa94 04-05-2004, 04:39 PM Originally posted by sky0787 sweet.. at like Autozone or NAPA? yea any of those should have it. Are you sure you have chrome wheels? sky0787 04-05-2004, 04:40 PM yuppers stang_killa94 04-05-2004, 04:47 PM Originally posted by sky0787 yuppers ok, its just that chrome should clean up pretty easy and you made it seem like the brake dust wouldnt come off:) Just making sure sky0787 04-05-2004, 04:51 PM Nah.. I haven't tried anything on them yet ( I really haven't cleaned my wheels in the last 9 months..horrible I know) So before I put anything on them, I was just going to check to make sure I used the best stuff. Thanks for checkin though krazzycowgirl 04-05-2004, 06:11 PM Yea Mothers is really good Chrome cleaner. you can even I think get it at like Walmart or Kmart. Anderson 04-05-2004, 06:59 PM Eagle Chrome and Wire cleaner works great. I couldnt get some brake dust off with a towel and soap/water, But once I sprayed it on there it wiped off. JordonMusser 04-14-2004, 02:18 AM fyi, if the chrome is clear coated (is it?) you CANT use chrome polish! sky0787 04-14-2004, 09:02 AM I do believe that it is.. Lt1 and Ls1 04-14-2004, 12:39 PM Okay I have the chrome ss wheels can I or can I Not use the mothers chrome polish. Don't want to kill my wheels. Buffdaddy 04-14-2004, 09:36 PM Yea, I also have the chrome zr1's for my 2001. Are they real chrome? Can I use nevr dull? CamaroBoy96Z28 04-14-2004, 11:30 PM I used Mother's chrome polish for a while and its nice but Windex is far more efficient and works the same. Spray and wipe with a paper towel. Works great. Lt1 and Ls1 04-15-2004, 08:04 AM So is using Windex TOTALLY safe?? Lt1 and Ls1 04-15-2004, 08:05 AM So is using Windex TOTALLY safe?? CamaroBoy96Z28 04-15-2004, 03:09 PM Originally posted by Lt1 and Ls1 So is using Windex TOTALLY safe?? I really dont see why it wouldnt be. I have no problems and I actually got the idea from other board members on this site and a few others. Haven't seen anyone complain about Windex ruining their finish. | ||
