It took long enough but it's finally done. This just a test or "rough draft" of what I have planeed but it knocks hard as hell. It will shake the change (in ya cupholder) if your next to me and can be heard from about 4 blocks. Pretty good considering most of the amps are not "quality" or expensive amps, plus the speakers are good up to 600 watts, currently I'm running a 400 watt and a 240 watt. They cant be seen from the pics, but one is in the cubby hole on the drivers side and the other is mounted behind the spare tire panel. I also bought those rear speaker panels (4 inch) from ebay and they came out of an 01 SS. Well let me know if ya like it or dont like it. I just finished the amp rack today and am adding two fans tomorrow.

Very nice setup, but it looks HEAVY! How do you make the raised vynil emblem. I have always liked that look.

the stock cover for the hatch with the wrinkled white cover looks a bit rough, just because it's wrinkled, the rest looks really nice though, not my style at all, but it looks like it was done well, and it's tasteful I say fix those wrinkles and you've done one hell of a job

Looks great! I like it, esp. the bow tie! Great job, and you did it all yourself -- extra bonus!

Thanks guys, I was startin to get worried lol!!

I made the Bowtie by cutting out the template using cardboard, then gluing it to the wood. Then gluing the naugahyde to the rack, be sure to tuck the vinyl as close to the edges as possible so the design will show good also be careful using 3M glue because it cures quickly and if you wait to long you wont be able to adjust if you need to.

yea the trunk panel is lookin kinda rough lol. Eventually all this will be replaced with fiberglass and carbon fiber. I still have to mount the fans on each side of the rack.

So you just used cardboard without any pad? Looks good.

Yep, no padding. The cardboard was a little thicker than I wanted but when I lad the vinyl on it, it came out ok.

It's real easy to come up with designs using cardboard or 1/4" MDF. I got this idea from a TA owner who had a bird on his amp rack (made outta cardboard). Making the amp rack gave me an idea of how I want the fiberglass, I also intend to incorporate the trunk cover hinges so i can make a fiberglass cover or just buy one from www.f-bodyaudio.com.

I'm real surprised at how this system hits. Everyone thinks I spent some "real" money lol. Only reason I have'nt started glassing the new box is cause i'm still very new to fiberglass and carbon fiber and dont want to mess the interior of my car up. One thing though.... I'm going for a show winning "all sony" set-up.

Yes it's heavier than oprah after a midnight snack, and that was something I did'nt think about. But I've learned my lesson.

"I used 1/4 MDF for the rack (using the template) and made the "slant" with liquid nail (love that stuff). "

Wait....How did you bend the wood at an angle like that? You used liquid nail? I thought liquid nail was a wood adhesive.

Yea I cut the large piece to contour to the rear panels, then cut that piece in two (horizontal) about 4 inches from the top. Then I used the brackets as holders for the two pieces. The brackets have a slight angle downwards at the top so I placed the two mdf pices back together but at a slant, Then added the liquid nail in between the gap. Let it dry then added another bead, the tape was there to make sure it did'nt shift before it dried.

I know that sounds wierd but if you want I can take some more pics of the back of the amp rack to show you. just let me know.

The main thing I was looking to test on this install was the box I built. I wondered if it would sound good, which it does and the bass is very tight but.... I made the portholes on the side of the box and I dont know if it would have sound better with em on top. But it's just a temp set-up, I'm about to lay a roll of Carbon fiber over the amp rack (with the raised bowtie) and see how it comes out. It will help in the weight department plus, how cool is it to have a Carbon fiber amp rack 32 inches wide lol? with a raised bowtie.

I just made 3 CF pieces for the interior as a test, and they came out OK (just a few mishaps) but as I get better at it, the goal is to have the system half and half (half carbon/fiberglass). And the 60 pound box will be replaced with a fiberglass enclosure.

That carbon fiber look should be hot. Dont forget to take pics when you do that project:)

Yea I'm tryin to go for something different this year. Not only do i plan to lay the carbon in the trunk area but the whole interior. Every plastic piece that is in the car!! It's new to me and I have some expert help on the boards, but the first test pieces came out with too much resin. They look like there is a 3 inch gloss lol. but from the side it's as flat as paper. Only thing though they have a hazy cloud on the last coat. I'll figure it out by this weekend.
