when i got home last night, i tried to set my parking break when the cable snaped and the arm went straight up real easy. this morning, i took it all apart to try and fix it when i realized it was way too short. what do i have to do to put a new cable in the car? is it very hard?

I have the same problem. I pulled up on it befor and it flew straight up, dropped it back down, pulled up again and it worked fine.

About a month later it happened again. Dropped it back down and pull up, its EXTREMELY tense. I can only pull it up about 2 or 3 clicks til I cant budge it anymore, and thats pulling up very hard.

Ive left it until now but if someone can help me out Id appreciate it. Im afraid to park on hills. Even small inclines my ebrake wont hold.

I took mine apart and the cable is broken. Has anybody replaced the cable? Can anybody tell me how difficult it is to replace, with maybe even a step by step guide?

That happened to me about two years ago,and it only did it once, and I thought(what the).Seems it's a common phenonemon. But a couple of months ago I heard a big BANG.Drove it to the mechanic, and had a broken cable. The mechanic suggested I replace both cables,as the other good one was problably streched,so I did.$45.00 for parts plus labor.Hope this helps.

Let me know, Id love to get this thing fixed.

Anyone have any updates on this topic?

Are their 2 separate cables or just 1?

If 1 of the 2 broke would it cause unequal presure and be really tense to pull it up.

I'm in the same boat for a broken e brake cable. I have a brand new replacement (http://community.webshots.com/photo/139300363/139301167wFwmbC) I'm not sure how to install this piece, can anyone tell me the jist of it? The 1st owner said the metal tab broke off that plate.

I had to replace that cable it is very easy. You have to go into the center counsel, and take of the parking brake handel from the car then unhook the 2 cables (that go to the wheels) from the "t" under the car above the drive shaft. The only prob I had was getting the rubber seal back into the floor of the car. I kind of put it in there half assed, if you can get it in there all the way, you a better man than me.

To repalace the cables that go to the wheels, you have to unhook the 2 spots (2 spots per cable) that the cable connects to the under side of the car. Then unhook it from the "t" above the drive shaft. Then unhook it from the brake caliper.

Very easy.
