i baught a strut tower brace at SLP day that they claimed fit 1993 - 2002 f-body's, even the SS's. its the kind that attaches to both strut towers then goes up near the windshield.
this thing fit my old 1995 z28 without any problems, however the bolt holes are about 1/4 inch too close on the 1999 camaro SS.
what can i do to fix this? is something wrong with the car?

I would just email SLP if I were you & ask them.I have an SLP strut tower brace & it bolted right up with no problem.

jacked the car up by the k-member and let the suspension hang, STB slid on without a problem

Yep, don't forget that those things flex.. Let us know if that got it.

I have an SLP one, and it bolted up fine for my car. Very nice sturdy piece, I can grab it and shake the whole car with it. Also the easyest mod I've ever done:D

stb's can be stubborn, I had to beat mine on with a rubber mallot... and that was while it was jacked up.

The upper spring mount bolts/studs are not vertical, but point "outwards" at the top. Sometimes it is necessary to loosen the 4 blots/studs on the shock tower on one side, and jack the car so the studs retract to the point where they are almost flush with the tower sheet metal. That will generally allow the STB to slip over the studs on both sides.

Weird how most of them (BMR) say that they won't fit on an SS.

My SLP STB bolted onto my '02 WS6 T/A in about 5 minutes without so much as a whimper or a whine. By far the EASIEST thing I have EVER done to/for my car. Although, now after reading that when I put the Fuel Rail Covers on my car, I am going to have to ditch my SLP bar for a Hotchkis or a BMR bar..... doesn't it just figure? Story of my life LOL
Oh well, I suppose it could be MUCH worse. :D :D :D
