I have a 1991 Camaro. At the pivot point for the clutch fork, there is a squeek sound. It goes away if I put slight pressure on the pedal. I put some grease on the pivot ball and it worked for a little while, but a little later it wore away and the noise came back. Do you have any ideas how to permanently stop the squeeking.

Sound like a good excuse to replace it with a new adjustable one.

is it the throw out bearing that might be causing the real problem or are you for sure its the pivot ball? i dont know all that much but if applying just a little pressure stops the noise it might have more to do with the throwout bearing. just something else to look into.

I know it is not he the thow out bearing, Last summer a guy told me it might be that. So I took everything apart, and re-greased it. Put it all back together and it still made the noise. Than somebody said to check the pivot point. There is a small "ball" that the fork pivots on. And the fork vibrates causing the squeeking. I lifted the fork off the ball and put some grease between them. And the squeek stop right away. But after a little while the grease wore away and the squeek started again.
When I get home, I'm going to take a very small about of foam (very small) and put it between the fork and the ball. That way there isnt direct metal to metal contact. I dont know how long that will last though.

What sharp little ears you have.
A heavy grease like axle or bearing grease should last a long time, unless your getting water in there thats washing it away.

I think I used brake caliper grease last time (thats all I had) but I do have some bearing grease all give that a try. If that doesnt shelp I'll put that small peice of foam (about 1/4 the size of a penny) to see if that helps at all.
Ya, I can hear it really good. And I've been trying to fix it for a while now. My dad thinks I'm crazy, spending all my time tring to fix a squeek. But to me it's all I hear.
