Who would attend an event in the Harrisburg PA area?

I was thinking of trying to get a gathering together sometime this summer for everyone withing driving distance (Harrisburg, PA area). I thought I might be able to arrange for it to be held at my work (I work Nuclear Security at TMI), but I might not be able to get it cleared for the obvious reasons. (They've got a huge parking lot and a great backdrop for our cars, they just frown on hundreds of strangers roaming around the grounds....) Failing that site, maybe something else in the area.

How many people in the area would be interested/able to attend? I have no idea on dates, I'm just looking for a rough figure of how many would attend if they can so I can run it by the back office at work. If we could make it some type of charity event, with the company matching our contribution (like a $5 entry fee?), they might be more willing to go for it. They like to pay off the community with donations.

Let me know!

(This would only be a show type event, no racing. Just a day of hanging out and looking at cars)

I'd be in.
I'm from Mechanicsburg so it not much of a drive for me.
BTW, I met a guy this year at a New Years eve party in Chambersburg that was a gaurd at TMI. Can't remember his name but he had a military back ground.

I'm always up for cruising down the Harrisburg way. There's been a few times when we were able to get people together to hangout at the Carlisle Pike in Camp Hill.

i am sure a large portion of the jersey crew woudl roll out. harrisburg is not a bad drive.
if you can't get the company to go for it there is a fair grounds or soemthign that they used to hold scca solo events at. that place was huge.
are we talkin bbq and stuff too or will it be a bring your own food? also, if you do decide on a charity thing i am sure you can get a few of the aftermarket vendors to donate a prize or two if you wanna give out trophies.
i can get at least 4 cars to show up no problem.

You're thinking of the Harrisburg Farm Show complex. That would be a great spot, but I have no clue as to who to contact about getting us space there. I'll look into it though, because that would be a great spot if work doesn't go for it.

I was originally thinking that everyone would bring one item, and we'd have a pot luck style meal. There's nothing saying we can't have a grill there too if someone brings burgers/dogs. Or if someone has a better idea on how to do the food, I'm all ears. This is just in the earliest stages of planning. I just had a few ideas in my head and wanted to get an estimate of how many would be interested.

Awsome! I was waiting for something like this. Look, my wife works at a credit union right across the street from the Farm Show Complex. Really nice spot, big parking lot. I could see if I could get permission. I really don't think there would be any problem, as long as I got permission first, along with a specific date. If that sounds good, let me know and I'll work on it. Definitley count me in, been wanting to get to know who I am reading about for a long time now. BTW, my neighbor has a 91/92? firebird and a 2000+? WS6. I wonder if he'd be interested?
Thanks

Yeah... it's been awhile since I was near a Nukey Power Plant (http://www.97transam.com/97ta-NovMorning.php) and had the battery recharged so maybe getting a few new spent fuel rods would be a good idea. I'll join the NJ group when they are heading across.

a barbecue sounds like a great idea.
I would say a pig roast, but that costs like a grand doesn't it?

If you don't mind a new guy showing up, I would come.

"Njspder" mentioned having it where they hold SCCA solo events, I believe that is now done at Penn National. If someone talks nicely to the folks at the Susquehana Region of the SCCA, maybe they would let the event take place at the same site they are having an autocross. It would be an added draw for those who are more into goin' then showin'. Just a thought.

Welcome to Carlisle! What area do you live in? No updates, I'm in the process of putting the house up for sale so obviously extremely busy with that... don't know if I'll have time for any of this this summer.
