How's come my desktop computer dials up the internet right after it boots up? I never told it to and I can't find a setting anywhere to tell it not to????

Are you sure its the internet its calling or might it be a 900 number....there are a few viruses that do that to hike up your phone bill.

Are you using windows XP or...?

If it's XP, click start then control panel, then internet options. then click on the connections tab. look for a setting that says "dial whenever a network connection is not present" and make sure it's not selected. If it is, then you know where your problem arises :)

It is dialing my ISP. I have three numbers it can dial. It seems to dial the last one I was using. I checked the connections Mike and have "never dial a connectiion" selected:confused:

well, im not very comp. savy, but I remember there being a list of things the pc will do every time you boot up. such as open windows, show background, maybe you got some virus that has added this to the startup list. :confused:
