Angle Plugs Vs. Straightsilvertripper 03-26-2004, 10:45 AM Which is better? Also, will angle plugs work with headers? Mark Zedzag 03-26-2004, 02:06 PM Some say angled plugs are better due to the spark plug location but it all depends on the headers you are using. Do you have headers now? If so you have to check for angled plug compatability first. silvertripper 03-26-2004, 03:26 PM Originally posted by Zedzag Some say angled plugs are better due to the spark plug location but it all depends on the headers you are using. The reason Im asking is that I dont have a set that I can compare to my headers as I'd be buying the heads from Summit. ??????? Freak 03-26-2004, 03:28 PM call summit or world products and ask them. they should be able to tell you if there will be a problem. also accel makes plugs that are shorter specificaly for angle plug applications Zedzag 03-26-2004, 04:45 PM Originally posted by silvertripper Im using headers from Mr.Gasket.... they are just plain 150.00 headers, the tube shape's is pretty common. If so call them and ask or it may say on their site. Green95Z28 03-26-2004, 09:58 PM A lot of the high-performance chevrolet stuff is angle plug, so I would think that they are better. There are a lot of other things that go into the decision on the heads though. If you call summit, they are very good at helping you decide. I think the angle plugs will work with your headers, but ask summit or the place you bought them to be sure. justens95z 03-29-2004, 12:04 AM I say, buy the heads you want, and if you have some clearance issues with the plugs/wires, just buy some of the header plugs. It will take care of it. Or from looking at your list of rides, looks like you have the dinero, just buy some headers that will fit....big ones...:D jg95z28 03-29-2004, 12:13 AM I just put Hooker Competition headers on one of my 67 Camaros with a 327 and straight plugs. #6 piston was next to impossible to get the plug in and then the boot on. I'm sure that plug wire isn't going to last long because it is definitely touching the header pipe. The rest of the plugs were no problem. justens95z 03-29-2004, 01:56 AM I've got a 71 Nova with a 355 and straight plugs in double hump heads, and never had a problem with my 8.8 Accel wires. Now my 95 Camaro LT1 car is another story. silvertripper 03-29-2004, 09:09 AM Well I have some sucky 882's on my 79 z with straight plugs and they fit fine under the tubes. But Im looking for some aftermarket heads and I'm finding alot of them with angel plugs. I know the plug's faces the intake valve's more, but I just wasnt sure if it was that much of a noticable difference in power and response between the angle and straight plug. SS69MAN 03-30-2004, 02:55 PM Just look at your header arrangement. My biggest mistake on my car was not getting the angle plugs. Damn spark plug is right behind the header. | ||
