faded93bird 09-16-2002, 12:26 AM I want to swap in a th400 into my 93 LT1 car. Is there a kit that contains the correct crossmember and torkarm brakets? I would also like to retain my stock speedo. What size tail shaft works the best for this? Would a bolt on or slip fit yolk work better. And than of course do i need to alter the floor pan to make it fit. Also what kind of shifter is nesessary? I already have the drive shaft covered. Any other info to make this go as smooth as possible would deffintly be cool.

sleeperz28 09-17-2002, 01:39 PM call up madman racing they sell everything for the swap.;)
jimmbo 09-19-2002, 06:26 PM how does it work with the stock speedo?
zturbo 09-19-2002, 07:52 PM For the stock speedo you will need the 91ish (forget exact year) 454 ss pickup truck speed sensor. I can get you the part number but i dont have it off hand. The 454 ss used a elctronic pickup in the th400 so its a bolt in and go situation :)
You can get a mount for the torque arm from B&M racing or the likes they are around been made for the third gen cars for conversions but i would just get a stand alone setup.

mongse_1 09-23-2002, 10:04 PM Reluctor: 8655315
Pickup: 8655291
These numbers were originally posted by Brady back in March.
See, it pays to save important topics like that on your computer. :D
94 NO TOP Z 09-25-2002, 03:32 PM Is the 93 4L60 speedo cable driven? I used the above parts on my 94 and they worked great but, I'm thinking 93's are different.

The 454 SS VSS connector part number is: 12085498
It's a no brainer to install...

So Id need
Reluctor: 8655315
Pickup: 8655291
as well as
connector 12085498 ???
or are only the reluctor and the pickup required?
Brady 09-26-2002, 11:12 AM you need:
Reluctor: 8655315
Pickup: 8655291
Connector 12085498
The new connector is needed because the plug-in is different on the pickup.
I have the aformentioned parts on my car, and the speedometer works. :)
speedmiser 09-26-2002, 12:12 PM Thanks for the info guys
mongse_1 09-26-2002, 11:25 PM Looks like I'll save this one. :)
Any idea on how much each part costs?
94 NO TOP Z 09-27-2002, 10:02 AM Seems like I paid about $90-$100 for the sensor and reluctor at gmotors.com. I didn't get the connector though.
SSlammedlt-4 12-04-2003, 05:12 PM AHHH, I like havingpartnumbers so i dont have to guess what i need. Thanks
