Width of Stange 12 bolt?

Is the width of a Strange 12-bolt rearend less then a stock rear?

Has any one who's made the swap noticed your rims/tires tuck in a little more. I would like to figure out the best back and front spacing for custom rims, and I dont want the numbers to change when I switch to a 12-bolt. Also, what torque arm would you recomend and why? Spohn, BMR....?

The Strange 12-bolt is the same width as the stock 10-bolt. Direct bolt-in replcaement. If your wheels fit the stock rear, they will fit on the Strange.

I like the Spohn suspension parts. Steve Spohn is a certified welder, and builds all his own parts. The workmanship, finish and design is as good as it can be. The rod ends for example are the best QA1 Kevlar lined pieces that are available. Customer serivce is excellent. Prices are reasonable for what you get. I've got his LCA's, LCA relocation brackets, drag-style rear sway bar and HD adjustable torque arm with DS loop.

For some reason I thought I read somewhere that The strange rearend was around a half inch narrower than the stock rear. I tried searching for that same info but could not find it again.

Strange has the exact dimensions of the 4th Gen 12-bolt on their website. Compare it to your stocker.

I run the 17x11 50mm ZR1 replicas with 315/35 BFG drag radials. I had to hammer the inner fenders a little. Some people claim they don't have to do any hammering, others do. I always assumed it was a difference on the width of the tires - the BFG DR's are on the wide side. Maybe there is a tiny difference in the axle width... but I doubt that it would be more than 1/4" - or the 17x11's wouldn't fit at all. On the other hand, I've run drag tires up to 28x10.5-15W on 15x10 7.5"BS wheels, with no additional problems, while others have had problems with the inner fenders. Other than that, I've had no reason to question the width.

The difference between the ones that fit and the others that don't fit could have do with whether or not the car is lowered. I got my 17x11's before my car was lowered and they didn't rub anything. After lowering the car, I had to beat-in the inner fenderwell with a Ford wrench to gain clearance. Also had to re-adjust the panhard bar to accomodate the shift from lowering.
