SSpdDmon 03-22-2004, 11:14 PM Just take it to the track, rev it up to about 5K and dump the clutch. Then take a little off one of the two pieces and weld it back together. Problem solved. Oh wait, you already tried that... ;) triumph 03-23-2004, 12:01 AM Go see Bob @ Arrow truck on fort St. in detoit down by the bridge. He can do what ever you need. Steven Timberwolf 03-23-2004, 12:50 AM I get all mine done at Precision Drieshaft in Lansing. He does a great job, is very quick and the prices are right. But that's a bit of a hike for you... IDOXLR8 03-23-2004, 07:34 AM I would just take it to DTS. :) Grover 03-23-2004, 07:56 AM If you plan on taking that thing to the track with the Street Twin, I would just get a Denny's Nitrous Ready shaft with the billet slip yoke. It will end up being cheaper than having your aluminum one shortened, then breaking it, and then buying a new one. Rodrigues 03-23-2004, 09:22 AM Hopefully this isn't a weak driveshaft, its supposed to handle 600+ rwhp with a manual trans no problem. Its a 3 1/2" driveshaft, spicer yoke, all spicer U joints (1330). If it's the 6061-T6, it will break trust me I know first hand. I had a 3 1/2" aluminum (6061-T6) driveshaft with the 1350 rear U-joint from Dynotech Engineering and twisted it like a pop can doing an easy launch at 2500 RPM. Supposedly their Metal Matrix Composite driveshafts are much stronger. Rodrigues 03-23-2004, 01:10 PM Not sure what type of aluminum, 6061 isnt all that strong in the first place. This driveshaft was made by Visteon as a prototype part for a 2003 cobra... I was told 3/16" walls on it Originally posted by Grover What type of aluminum? Steven I second this, I just had some shafts for my 90 Blazer done there should be fairly cheap to shorten is too, it cost me $135 to get a steel shaft retubed, so, for shortening one, it is all labor, probably be right around $100 | ||
