Josh-'04 GTO 03-22-2004, 07:53 PM Well, the unimaginable happened. My garage caught fire and is completely leveled. The 'bird was inside and is totally destroyed. :( My 19' Sea Ray was also destroyed, and the house has to be gutted. I am VERY thankful that my girlfriend and our 2 kids made it out fine. But what a mess everything is.
Sad to see my bird go, as I've had it since new, and have thousands of dollars and hours into it. But it's just a car, and way more relieved that my family is OK. Homeowners/Auto insurances will cover it all, so that is good.
Haven't had to buy a "fun" car in the last seven years, but I'd have to say the new C6 is gonna be on the top of my list... :) :thumb:
Blue By You 03-22-2004, 09:41 PM OMG! That's so aweful to hear. We are glad that you and your loved ones are OK. That really is important.
But I hear ya about it being just a car. Trust me I'm so anal about my car. I swear I pay more attention to her (the car) than my husband. But after being rear ended last year. I thought I'd loose it on the guy (or anyone) who hit us/me. But I ask huuby to deal with the situation. I stayed away as I would of decked him. And as I was sitting away from the car all I realized is I'm pretty much OK. My husband is OK. And that's all I cared about at that moment. I was just glad we were OK.
If we can help let us know. :)
bowtiepwr 03-23-2004, 05:31 AM >It's great that your family is safe , but sorry for the loss :(
I guess now with the insurance you can build a better garage with a lift :D .
TimboTA 03-23-2004, 12:18 PM Dude, that sucks. :(
Is the house still livable, or do you have to hole up in a hotel for the time being? Saw a lot of that when I was working with my brother doing fire & water repairs.
Glad to hear that the fam is okay, though. Cars are replaceable, people are not.
Josh-'04 GTO 03-25-2004, 06:54 PM We're stuck in a hotel until Friday, when they are supposed to put a trailer up for us to stay in while renovations begin.
It was a HUGE relief that all of us are fine. Another minute or two one way or the other, and I would have been a goner.
I guess one decent part about this, is that I will have a practically brand new house and garage. For once in my life, I have something positive to say about insurance! :) It will be kinda fun looking for another hot rod too. Can't decide, new tech or old school? Unfortunately, I'll never see any of the zillions of hours I had into the 'bird. :(
Thanks for all the kind words! You guys are the best. :thumb:
TimboTA 03-25-2004, 11:02 PM I can't see you in something so old school it has "a tumor on the intake manifold"

cndctrdj 03-29-2004, 04:45 PM thats terrible, im sorry to hear that i know a few people that have that happen to them. its never easy but you are right you still have your family wich is more than some people can say.
Jcb890 03-30-2004, 01:30 AM o man, that is wicked rough, glad 2 see every1 is OK and everything. if u dont mind me askin, what happened?
Josh-'04 GTO 03-30-2004, 08:28 PM Garage caught fire, and proceeded to set off my nitrous oxide tank, a propane tank, gasoline, about 35 aerosol cans, and finally, the 'birds gasoline tank. Was so violent, that debris landed on my house and boat, setting them on fire. Probably would have been cool to watch if it was in a movie, and not my house. :(
bowtiepwr 03-31-2004, 10:25 AM >well you made the paper and Masslive (I didn't post a link because it has your address on it )
I guess that makes you a celebrity .

Can't say that is the best way to make the newspaper... :(
NtenseZ28 03-31-2004, 06:30 PM Well coming from his little brother, who also spent a lot of time under the hood of the car....this really stinks! Well on the brighter side, both my niece and nephew are sitting on their couch right now smiling and having fun like children should. Cars can be replaced, and done over faster than ever -- Family however is irreplacable and is of course first priority.
Looks like I'll have to throw down on all the dorks in town that have stickers and glue-on hood scoops til he gets another hot rod in the garage....

I'd much rather be in the paper for leaving 500' of burnout down main street....
Josh-'04 GTO 04-01-2004, 03:28 PM Don't worry Jake, I'll have another project car to drive you insane soon enough! :D
Caps94ZODG 04-03-2004, 05:29 PM sorry man..that sucks. I know it is the biggest loss, but your fam is ok and the house and bird can be replaced.
a C6 does sound good though huh?? :D
MA WS6 04-04-2004, 02:42 PM Well doesn't that suck. :( I hate to see a rare WS6 Formula go up in smoke. I take it my old tires and rims went up in the flames?
Glad to hear you and the family are OK. :)
Now you have a good reason to get a ZO6. You can pick them up at dealer cost and get a rebate or low rate loan now. :D

Yeah, I had put the rims/tires on, but never got to drive it with them on. :(
Love to have a Vette, but on the rare occasion the wife/kids will take a cruise with me, so I think a two-seater is off the menu for now. I've already scoped out a couple of LS1 T/A's and that is probably what I'll end up with. They are going for pretty low prices, so I'll have enough money left over for a blower too! :)
