1996 Z28 6-speed 3.42. I can not get better than a 2.25 60' time my suspension mods are SFCs and 275/40/17 BFG drag radials. I have tried tire pressures from 16-24 psi. I have tried a big burn out, small burn out, no burn out. I have tried variying rpm from about 2,800 to 3,400. My tires spin like mad everytime I launch and even spin when I shift into 2nd gear. Do I need more suspension mods? I have made about 12 runs and average 2.25-2.5 every time. plese help

Basically you dont have any real suspension mods. Try some lower control arms and relocation brackets. Try pulling the front swaybar.
If you really wanna get serious, you can get the QA1 shocks,or eibach drag launch kit.
Im willing to bet pulling the front swaybar(or disconnecting it) will help, and the relocation brackets will also help.
The tire you have doesnt provide for much "cushion" (meaning very short STIFF sidewall).

What he said...

The best I could ever get on street tires were 2.0...
There are some getting lower than that (BigBoySlim) is pulling some real low 60's on stock BFG Comp TA.

Best bet would get some DRs (nittos) should help out and still be easy on the rear. (If there is such a thing)

First, I'd try reducing the tire pressure a little. I think you'd be better off staying around 15-17 psi. And reduce your launch RPM until you get the tires to hook up. You should be able to do 2.0s all day on those tires with your power level even launching off idle. If you are spinning, you need to back off the aggressiveness of the launch to get your best 60-foot.

You'd probably have an easier time with steeper gears too, like 3.73s or 4.10s, because you could launch easier and still pull out of the hole well.

If you had the clutch and driveline to back them up, ET Streets would solve your problems, but they aren't a good idea for a stock rear. My 60-foots plummeted by an average of 0.3 seconds when I switched from BFG DRs to ET Streets.

I'd say go with another set of gears. I put 4:10's in my A4 and have pulled 1.9 60 ft. before on the motor with those tires. I think they are a pretty good tire for street/strip use.

Not trying to flame you here but work on the driving before worrying about the car. A 2.25 60' is emberising for Dr's. Learn to roll in to the throttle and slip the clutch for your launch. With the power that your Vtech is producing you should not leave at anything above a idle. If you try to shock those DR's they will break loose and you will never recover.

A4... ;) No but really. I think some ET streets will help a lot. Do you have a line lock to really heat them up? I have been lucky to pull 1.81 60' on my stock street tires. No DR or slicks. Maybe it is the track not being prepped good enough.

Well since I JUST got my M6 last week, I don't know much, but I was told that Drag Radials on a ****ty (stock) clutch WILL NOT WORK.
Maybe thats the case, and maybe it isn't.
I'm just trying to help out what seems to be a MAJOR problem with the mods shown.
Good luck!
