Goodyear eagle f1 GS-D3 ot firestone sz50Coolformula 03-22-2004, 01:31 PM I'm getting one of thse 2 285 all around. goodyr has 280 treadwear while firestone has the 340. both AA A. LT4Firehawk 03-22-2004, 01:49 PM You can't compare treadwear ratings between different brands, only within the same brand (and even then it's not nescessarily accurate). Coolformula 03-22-2004, 02:01 PM I have never looked at it like that. thanks On tiretrack the firestone has a.1 better rating, but its not perfect since its just users and not real tesr data. I have had 1 gsc and 3 or 4 f1( not gsd3) and was not impressed. Also I had a set of kuhomos with the weird tread pattern, i think hard caynon carvering is harder on that tread pattern. but i have heard good things from both sides Black_Z28 03-22-2004, 02:14 PM I've road in a car with GS-D3s and it was probably one of the better tires I've encountered. They seemed to have great traction even though it was pretty cool outside. I would go for the goodyears over the firestones. My dad's vette had the SZ50s and I didn't like them that much. stereomandan 03-22-2004, 02:29 PM I love my GS-D3's. (275/40-17's) Quiet, great cornering grip, and the look is awesome. I can't really qualify how well they launch because it is cold out here and I just did headers and catback so it's hard to compare to previous tires. I have seen one guy on here cut a 1.9x 60' time with them though. Very nice. Dan badblackta 03-22-2004, 02:31 PM Goodyear GS-C :thumb: Kumho  LS1_03 03-22-2004, 02:34 PM I got a 2.092 60" on 3 year old BALD SZ50EPs. Stock stall and 2.73 rear. For how old they were and the condition they were in, they hooked up. I was happy with them and if had the money I'd get a set. Red96Lt1 03-22-2004, 02:39 PM I got the goodyear's and they are awesome! 95_LT1_6SPD 03-22-2004, 02:44 PM i used the firehawks all around for about 6 months, and was very impressed with their grip/wear/wet traction. I put about 3000km on them and could hardly notice any wear. The wet traction was awesome and i saw no to very little hydroplaining when i drove in the rain. The ride is also smooth and quiet. If the firehawk was available in anything bigger than 275/40/17 I would still be using them on the back, and not just the front. Coolformula 03-22-2004, 02:50 PM What kind of life can i get out of these tires, i hoping 20k becuase i drive about 20k a year and need good tires at least to last a year, or if not i will get 2 sets of Kumho for the price of one set of "good" brands lol 95_LT1_6SPD 03-22-2004, 03:08 PM it depends how you drive, but i see no problem with front tires lasting 20k. They come with a fair amount of tread on them. CamaroGuy22 03-22-2004, 04:31 PM I have Goodyear GS-D3's, they are awsome, great in the rain, i have no expereince with the firehawks so i cant speak for them. Coolformula 06-07-2006, 10:49 AM I'm down to these 4 chocies GS-D3 Kumho SPT Firestone Wide Oval G-force Sport is good years worth 60 more atire? OBE1 95Z28 06-07-2006, 10:53 AM 2+ years later and you finally narrowed it down to 4 tires  I really like the Goodyear GS-D3's. gixxer92 06-07-2006, 01:22 PM Firehawk SZ-50's on my SS rims were great. I didn't experience a lot of road noise from them and the wet traction (some snow) traction was excellent. I have the Michellin Pilot Sports on Z06 rims now and IMHO are equivelant to what the 17" Firehawks were in the wet weather, just more traction in dry weather with the bigger contact patch in back. As a note to what I've experienced, the BFG's Comp TA's that I had in the past produce a lot of road noise as they wear down. Fastbird93 06-07-2006, 01:38 PM I've been running SZ-50's for a LONG time. Best tire I've every used. Treadwear was excellent, and I consistently cut low 1.9x short times in a M6 bolt on car. Injuneer 06-07-2006, 02:11 PM 2+ years later and you finally narrowed it down to 4 tires  I really like the Goodyear GS-D3's. And by resurrecting a 2-year old thread, its now on the wrong forum.... :D Movnig to "Wheels and Tires"...... | ||
