hey everybody, like it says in the title, I got a 1968 Camaro yesterday, and I have a few questions about it.

First, will a 2nd gen rear end fit without modification? obviously the brakes will have to be swapped. but is the overall and leafspring width the same? are there anyother problems other than width?

Second, the one bad area of the body is the rodker panel on the pass side. is this a welded on body panel? or is it bolt on?

Third, the headlight connection is an old style, is there an adapter so I can use a newer style light?

Fourth, I want to change the front end to an RS style, is there anywhere that has a list of ALL the parts I need? I know most of the obvious ones, and some of the less obvious, but Id like to find out if I missed anything

Thanks for any help, Im sure Ill have more questions in the not too distant future.

Second generation rearend will not fit without modification.

You can only swap 67-69 rear without mods.

68-72 Nova rearend should also fit.

To do the RS coversion your going to need extensions for the fenders to mount the RS headlamps. As norm suggested, Classic industries sells a complete RS coversion kit. The last time I checked it was just under $1000. You're also going to need to modify the front valance for the RS parking lamps.

I'd go with the 67 RS kit. Lookwise its the same, however the 68-69 RS used a vacuum system... a lot of hoses, plus you'd need to install the vacuum tank. There are also better headlamp motors out there as well.

For the headlamp conversion, check ebay, I see them up there all the time. And the rocker panel is both bolted and welded.

thanks for the help guys.

I found out that I was looking at the wrong connectors for the headlights. they are a standard type. I was looking at the turn signal lights. Im an idiot. guess Im still too excited to think rationaly.

I thought you were talking about an H.I.D. conversion. :D You might want to also checkout http://www.camaros.net and http://www.camaros.org which are two of the best sites out there for 1st gen information.

Enjoy!

Yea the 2nd gen rear ends won't fit, if you don't plan on racing it there are plenty of 10 bolts out of novas and other camaros around.
