Has Everybody Else Noticed?

I'm sure alot of you have and I know it's been brought up before, but has everybody else noticed how many TV shows and commercials have had first gen Camaros and Firebirds in them lately? I cant even remember them all now theres so many. I have a '67 Camaro and I'm all for retro so that's why I've been paying attention to this. And it seems some of the inside info we keep getting implies there will be retro or heritage cues. Plus, Ed Welburn, the GM Design Chief, drives an SSR and a '69 Camaro. Whether or not all this really does mean anything or if it's just coincidence, we'll find out in a few years.

The magazine ad with the back of the black '69 Z/28, or was it SS.
That mustard commercial with the green '69 Camaro.
Taco Bell commercial with the '67-8 Firebird.
The Chunky Soup commercial with the '67-8 Firebird.
2 or 3 recent music videos come to mind that have had '69 Camaros.
That Las Vegas show on NBC has a '69 Camaro.
Plus many others that I cant remember, anybody else got any? I know there's got to be some other retro fans here who have noticed some things to. I just bring this up because I would like to see a retro Camaro, however, aslong as the Camaro comes back, if it's all new or retro or whatever, aslong as it's not butt ugly I'll buy it, I just want it to come back, like the rest of you. I know some say that the Mustang is retro so then the Camaro shouldnt be, but wasnt the Mustang the reason for the Camaro being introduced in the first place, it wouldnt be all to surprising to see history repeat itself in so many ways. Lets not forget we got the Charger coming back too now. If the Charger comes back and it's retro or has heritage, and the Mustang is what it is, when the Camaro comes back if it doesnt have any resemblance to its past, I think some will be dissapointed that the other brands have done their part to bring back some of their glory days but Chevy has not. What I'm saying is I think the Camaro should be retro since the Mustang is and the Charger may be aswell. Thats the way I feel about it anyway. Then again, I am a little biased, I have a first gen, not to mention I had a dream around '99 or 2000 about a new first gen looking Camaro, before anyone had started talking about retro. But again, like I said, as long as it comes back, I think we'll all be happy regardless.
Back to the original point of the thread, anyone else notice some first gens in anything, I know theres some more out there.

I definatly have noticed. I always pay attention to cars in commercials or movies, even if they are way in the background. The only real reason I think they are there is because they are bad-ass and it is just a coincidence. I wish it was a plea to bring the Camaro back but.....................................I doubt it.

What about Fear Factor? Have you noticed all the previews and last weeks episode? They are doing all the car stunts with 3rd Gen Camaro's - and they are really trashing them.

They still run those Enterprise rent-a-car commercial's with the 4th Gen V6 convertable in them...

Also I still see the Armor All commercials with the 4th Gen Firebird interior....

There's that one were that guy comes home from college in a blue '69 Camaro vert, the parents say he's changed.
Then there's this other commecial, forgot what it was about but there is this small dog hangin out the rear part of the driver's window in a red 1stgen fbody(didn't show the whole car).
Then there's that one that aired 2-3 years ago (a chevy commercial)where they go through chevy's lineup and at the end there's a red 1stgen Camaro vert doing a burnout.I wish that I could find that commercial on the net,it was awesome.

I saw the commercial again this morning. At first I thought the same thing, but then as the camera pans down towards the bottom, you can see that the window line is completely flat. On a Camaro/Firebird it goes back at an upward angle towards the rear deck. I am 100% confident its a Mustang coupe. :D

Actually that's why I thought that it was a Camaro, that the end goes upward.I was saying to myself that I would never let a dog hang out the window with those claws it has. Then I said, wait a minute, that's a Camaro! That dog would be banned from the car for life if it scratched the paint.:D

In commercials and movies it's usually 1st and Third Gens. I can't keep track of the number of both I've seen over the years.

There's a red '67 convertible that ends up going off a cliff and into the ocean in a Farmer's Insurance ad.

Might be another revisionist attempt to now even give the SS the Z28's stripes. ;) That car coulda also used better rims.

Another one was the blue '69 in 2 Fast 2 Furious, a good place for GM to put it because they knew alot of people would see that movie.

I think a large part of the trend of 1st gens making TV and advertising spots is the fact that they are skyrocketing in desirablity. You'd be hard pressed to find a recent issue of Hot Rod without a 1st Gen featured.

As their popularity continues to grow among collectors and rodders, so does the recognizability by the general public for which the spots are intended. The recent publicity has more to do with the 1st Gens turning into more and more of an American icon and less to do with any future vehicle, IMO.
