i will probably run hi flow cats but i heard some longtubes wont let you run cats, just off roads. will off roads make a noticeable amount of power over hi flow cats? what size cats does everyone reccomend i should get, 2.5" or 3"?

It looks like your really doing your "header homework". I'd be happy to go over header options for you on the phone tomorrow. This might make it a little easier for you. I can be reached at 1-508-679-9760 (ext 208).

btw- I just covered most of these questions in your other thread

just save your cats, gut 'em, and get some true duals welded up. will cost the same or cheaper than every cat back system. Thats what Im doing. From what Ive heard, it sounds bad a$$.....

true duals are no where near as cheap as a 300-350.00 exhaust system, most shops that do them cheap dont mandrel bend the pipes, and the ones that do want over 600.00 to do over the axle :blah:

Jet-Hot LT's go for a little more than $500 and their catted Y-pipe is something like $400 i think .. $200+ for offroad.

well to answer your questions:

technically you could run cats on any long tube, some are available aftermarket, like the SLP, Hooker and FLP's...possibly others. but if you plan to have the Ypipe w/ cats fabricated you could put it behind any header.

now i have one concern. i've heard of people removing the AIR system on their cars, and this in turn ruining the cats fairly quickly (several thousand miles). i can not comment on the validity of this.

that being said i would think if you were planning on running cats that you would want to purchase headers that have the provisions for the AIR. Pacesetter, Flowtechs and many others DO have this, but anything listed as "offroad" or "race" most likely doesn't have the emissions provisions.

horsepower, well with high flow cats you would probably lose 5 hp over an orp.

and since all longtubes that i know of have a 3" collector, you would want a 3" cat as to not introduce a bottleneck in the Ypipe
