I got emails from two of them so far saying that they have sent in their opposition for the bill. They say that they sent it back for reconsideration I wish they could squash it and have it never come back.

Mass legislative doesn't have anything better to do than this?:rolleyes: I think this is the least of mass problems has.

This is the reply I got back from one rep:

I have asked that this bill be re-committed to Committee so that we can
address the concerns that so many have brought to our attention.
Unfortunately, bills that have good intentions often times have
unattended consequences and we often times do not realize them until a
bill moves through the legislative process. Again, do in part to your
efforts I will request that this bill be sent back for reconsideration.

Guys, I am a police officer in Mass. and I just wanted to mention that we already have language in current Mass. laws which is so vaugue, as to be dangerous to our hobby. If a cop wants to harass a guy with loud exhaust there is a fine available now under Ch.90-sec. 7. I have a friend with an inspection station and he told me that the registry is already on his ass about rejecting cars with loud exhaust. He told me my car would/should probably fail. I told him I have an SLP exhaust so I thought it wasn't considered aftermarket if Firehawks (*even though my car isn't a Firehawk) came with it. He said he would need to see that in writing. Long story short, is I see a bigger problem getting your car inspected (which is based on the car passing standards set by the regisrty) than getting curbside hassles from law enforcement. Think about it when was the last time you saw a Harley w/ stock exhaust? You don't see them getting written up with straight pipes. I have never written this type ticket in 17 years of law enforcement. Most cops I know just don't write them either. Also, how loud and annoying are lawnmowers and chain saws? A loud car drives by your house for a few seconds, but a lawnmower or snowblower is twice as loud and annoys your for an hour at a time sometimes. Even those of us in Law Enforcement who are into cars have to get through inspection like everyone else. Just because laws are written doesn't mean we have to write citations. I have three fellow officers on our department w/ LT1 F-Body cars. I am the only one with a cat on my car, and hopefully mine will be gone soon too. We like running the leaded gas at the drag strip. Believe me, we aren't writing noise tickets. But the inspection sticker is supposedly going to be connected to your registration so that if you fail to submit your car within like 30 or 45 days of your old sticker expiring (or your 7 day grace period on new cars) then the Registry will revoke your plates. That is what they are telling the guys at Inspection stations anyway. I have not inspected my 69 AMX since like 1999 because I only drive it at night to Cruises and shows, it just seemed like a big waste of time. I just scraped the old one off and said screw it, I will get one next year, and just never did. But I am going to have to give the devil his due this year or they will yank my plates. I just though I would bring this up for whatever it is worth.

I haven't had mine inspected since last year?? And my plates are still good...

My guy that has a garage, and does inspections told me that is what the Registry told him this is coming soon, and they usually let the Inspection stations know what is coming in advance, but I do believe that it is coming. One more way to make our lives difficult..... I can remember my best friend in high school that had an uncle who always had some stickers at his house. If your hot rod or muscle car had open headers, or you had some jagged rust, or some other small **** wrong he would slap one on your car at his house for like $20. He just didn't want people to see you at the garage with bald Mickey Thompson tires or whatever. Man those were the days! :confused:

What are the punk kids with the coffee can exhaust on their pimped out Honda Civics gonna do....if they put the stock exhaust back on...they'll loose the 3 hp they gained. Then they'll be slow again...not saying they weren't already:D

I emailed all the representatives from that link. So far I've only received a response fom Rep. Hill. For those that have done the same, you guys hear from anyone else? I hope they review this bill.

Another thing that I read I think it was in Hi-Po Pontiac (but maybe I am wrong). The story said that SEMA (specialty equipment Manufacturors Assoc.) has a lobbying group, and they are proposing in any state that has these types of laws that the legislation exempt classic cars and hi-performance collectable cars from these types of laws. Mass was specifically mentioned in the article. So at least we have someone on our side. Who knows what will happen. Just thought I would mention that. :think:

And just an fyi for your OBDII guys. Shortly the "second chance" deal of dyno testing a car/truck that fails the plug-in check will also end. If the system hasn't completed all the OBDII self tests prior to the plug in you will not pass.

The link posted doesnt work:confused: Also, most places that do inspections are run by older gentlemen that have been around since the days of muscle, most compliment me on my exhaust, granted its just stock with a flowmaster muffler and slp y pipe. Soon to have Loudmouth. But, you have to watch out for the iranian guys that are just gunna try and fail you and then say that you have to do the work at there shop:mad: Dont let them, kick them in the balls, and punch them in the face, cause they tried to do that to my moms car. It failed and they wouldnt let her take the car home. I had to go down there with a baseball bat :alert:
