Still many of these guys in the “car racing community”, am not implying the “F1” era and the Schumacker’s windbreaker saga …. But for those guys who still expressed willingness to enter into the venturesome and uncertainties; fearless and courageous looking for results, longing for satisfaction.

One has to do removing his engine cylinder head and have it mounted into a lathe machine or surface grinder and have it refaced by at least 1/16” to 3/32”.

One has sweared an increase in engine power and his car hit the road with “authority” … and not only this, his piston was re-grooved to give way for another compression ring… I mean all pistons have been re-grooved  ….

So what can you say about this guys…..?
Anybody please comment

Thanx in advance

Angle milling (or grinding if you have lots of time) can remove more than 3/32" from one edge of the head. With some large, deep combustion chambers, you might be able to "flat mill" 3/32 without hitting the valve seats, especially in a large open chamber smog engine of quite a few years ago.

That's one way to seal better. Replacing the rings and/or pistons and resurfacing the bores would be more usual.

There are many ways to skin a cat. Nobody say you have to use a certain number of rings. 1-4 can be found in different applications.
