First time at track...

I just got back from the track with some embarrasing times. This was my first time, but it still sucked. I ran a 14.2 @ 102mph both times... My launches weren't that great, and I was shifting at 5k rpms. Should I have shifted at a higher rpm? Also, my tires are BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDWS. A guy with a 2000 stock WS6 M6 said that his first time was a 14.9, and when he began shifting at 6k+ he got his time down to 13.0. I read somewhere that going over 4500-5000 rpm is pointless  Whats going on?

last time i checked the redline on our cars is 6000-6500. so if your shifting early then your not getting everything out of the car.

Don't feel so bad...my first time at the track, I ran a 14.3:rolleyes:

Just learn how to drive that thing the way it should be driven. :D

Our cars make a hell of amount of power right up to the red line, if you short shift any gear, you're just robbing yourself of time.

Looking at my Dyno Graph, my car is making 310 horsepower at 6200 rpms. I use every last bit of power the car will give me.
