Raced a Boxster S

Today coming home from school, i stop by my freinds house, we were just BSing around..we decided to go to Burger King since we hadn't ate lunch today. We get out onto the highway, and as were approaching the intersection i see a silver Boxster S sitting there..we pull up next to him at the light, it was a guy probably in his lower, to mid 30's driving, he looks over, than looks straight ahead..i hear a slight little rev from him, than he looks over, gives me this snobby smile, than gives a nice high rev...i countered, and he just kinda smiled...As the light turns yellow for the traffic thats going through the intersection, i hear his rev's go up..than level off and stay steady..i held the brakes just to get a slight load on the torque converter..The light turns green, and i hear a slight squeal from him..i'm spinning a little, but not as bad as i thought i would, as i was winding through 1st..we were pretty much dead even, as soon as my car shifted to 2nd i started pulling him very slowly, his bumper was at about the middle of my passenger side door, my car shifted into third, and i held it to about 115ish...and had about a car length on him..i hit the brakes, and he flew by and hit his brakes...we slowed down to about 70 or so..the next light was green, than the next light was red..he got into the right-hand turn lane, while i was still in the fast lane...he was looking my way for oncoming traffic but he never acknowledged that he saw me..he made his right turn and that was that..But man..i was SO pumped..my hands and legs were shaking for like 5 minutes after that, this was pretty much my first race that was actually worth talking about. So i figured i'd share it with you guys! I was so happy, and felt so proud that, that guy probably payed more than double what i payed for his car..and i beat him! Now i know i would never hang with him in the twisties..but..i'm happy enough to beat him in a straight line!

Nice kill! Always exciting to knock off a car that the guy paid double for.

My buddy at work has a Boxster, but for some reason he doesn't want any piece of my Formula!

Hehe, maybe its cause he has. But it was someone else's Formula.

Not to sound like a d!ck, but does anyone have any ETs for those cars?? I'm almost 99.9% sure the R/T and M/T times I saw for the S's were like mid to low 14s...

From wha I've seen on the street of those cars, I wouldn't hesitate to run one in the old Atly.

Never been impressed with those cars...

Yeah, mid 14's @93-96 mph for the Boxster.

13.8-13.9 at 100-102 mph for the Boxster S.

Pretty much LT1 territory for both, depending on driver, although the LT1 should eat up the regular Boxster the longer the race goes.

Hey, nah..you dont sound like a dick..But, when i say my car is stock..i mean down to the paper filter and everything. My car also has the 2.73's..so i'm not expecting anything better than high 13's outta her right now..So running a high 13 second car for my first race..and beating it..is pretty cool IMO.....

The boxster s has got 250 hp carrying 2800 lbs. Mid 13's@101-103 properly driven. Might wanna bolt a supercharger on the Altima first.

Yep, to sell, take the $$$ and buy a ZO6. I've driven the Boxster and the ZO6 and it's no contest.

...

I've got a basic 98' Boxter, and I must say the only car that I've actually raced and won is one of the last year model MR-2 that had a few things done to it. It was a friend from work. I BARELY beat him..... Everytime I drive it, I get revs from all kinds of cars. Mostly high school kids in Civics, Acura's, and an occasional Miata. I had the wife drive the Camaro and me in the Boxter one day....(she can't drive a stick very well either) and she blew my doors off. The Camaro is a V-6 too!!

They're extremely overpriced cars for their class, but man are they fun to drive on the curves!!........and that exhaust note at full throttle...........BOING!!!:bow
