Whats up guys? question i'm getting ready to swap my tpi 305 with a lt1. and i want to know about the trans. i have in it now a 5 speed and the lt1 came with a 4l60e trans so i want to know which cable do i need. 3rd gen or 4th gen? also if i use a stock 3rd gen shifter will i need the 4th gen cable and will this work together if thats the case? i would try using the 5 speed but from what i've read it's not strong enough. thanks for any help.

Are you talking about the cable that goes from the shifter to the tranny (4L60) or are you talking about the kickdown cable?

The 4L60E doesn't use a kick down cable. As far as shifter cable goes, either should work. :)

Find a 6 speed and you'll look like this... :D

I don;t think there is a cable for the rear end gears. For the 4L60, it has a kickdown cable and a shifter cable and a speedo sensor. For the 4L60E, it has the same less the kickdown cable.

You mean P R N OD D 2 1. You missed out the OD and the N. That is the shifter cable. You can get it from the GM parts store and get the shifter from a JY.
