Ultra Z hood....

Just got the car painted and decided to put a UltraZ hood from SLP. So we put the hood on, move everything possible, fenders, hinges(din't move them, but tried to adjust them) and well im kind of dissapointed that it left such a big gap. I should of took pictures i just think about it at that time. I find the gap is huge, u see all the bolts along the fenders.
Am I the only one with this problem?

Why did you move your fenders? All you should have done was adjust the hinges and the hood latch.

The fenders had to come off to fix a few things before we decide to put the hood.

You might end up needing to take it to a "pro" body shop guy. A local guy spent hours trying to get his aftermarket hood aligned. Finally gave up and took it to a body shop. When they got done, looked better than the stocker.

SLP hoods are some of the best quality hoods out there. You'll be pleased once you get it adjusted properly. I doubt seriously their mold is messed up so that means the hood will fit good... with some work

Re: Ultra Z hood....

I had that problem and the body shop shimmed in the passenger side fender and it helped alot but when i drove it home the paint on the fender by the mirror cracked and i'm waiting for them to fix it. the gap up the sides now looks pretty good, i'm not happy with the drivers side front by the headlight bucket and the nose, and the front fender . the hood stiks up at least a 1/4 " above the front 6" of the fender. It looks like the hood starts to warp up or something. Ineed advice fixing mine

Re: Ultra Z hood....

I ordered one of these hoods and after working for hours we got it to line up right. Problems was there was horrible waves to the hood and no body shop in town would touch it. Ended up sending it back and using the money on other stuff. However, did end up learning a few interesting tidbits.

SLP makes the SS Hood and the Trans Am hood. These hoods cost around $2,000 dollars to get hold of. The SLP hood averages around $800. So theres some food for thought... I personally would rather have paid more for the hood and them get it right.
