Anywhere I travel to is lower than my local track.

Track elevation 3350
Typical race day density altitude 5000+

I think it's about 850ft, but the density altitiude is seldom less than ~1,800ft. One day two years ago it was like 400ft, there were lots of new bests (and lots of broken cars).

Ouch. Get into the 12's there though you could only imagine what would happen at sea level. :D

Rockingham is around 375 ft with a normal DA of 1000. Now my little 1/8 track I race at here on the coast is 50 ft and I have seen the DA as low as -650, that's good air.

11,000 d.a.? Are you sure? I race at 4000' elevation and the highest I have ever heard of was about 7000' d.a. on a 100 degree summer day. I've had my car up to 8900' elevation and it was dog d!ck slow. It has never been even close that slow at 4000' ever.

Last year we had a couple of really bad days when the DA hit 7000 feet. I just wanted to go home and lie in the sun. It was too hot and muggy to race especially when you're in a fire jacket sitting in a black car in the staging lanes waiting for a track cleanup.

You're telling me.....N/A sucks up here. Old setup was running 13.2 on street tires. We'll see how the FI treats me.

Gateway International Raceway = 400 ft.
Mid America Raceway = 515 ft.

DA's normally around 1000.

from what i hear last year at RMR the lowest DA was around 5500 feet. i talked to a guy from denver that was on vacation with his car and he was running almost a half a second slower here then at bandimere (sp)

good ole utah i guess

Yeah the lake air doesn't help our DA out at all.

And those Colorado boys always complain that they have a slow track ;)

Some how I doubt that a track that is 1400 ft lower than bandimere is more DA, humidity from your lake does not effect DA greatly. Pressure and temp do the most.;)

I knid of doubt you have 11k DAs when Bandimere in the summer only gets up to 10-11.5k.

the highest i have actually seen it was when we were TNTing this kids car and it read over 10,000.

stock LT1's run about 15.00 and 14.99's. my friends vette with a higher stall, K&N intake kit, shift kit, and exhaust went 14.2x.

i was at the track on a day it was raining and about 60* and the da was high 6's low 7's.

you should come run your car herre in utah and see how that works out, it'll feel like a turd!

I dunno why we are arguing over it, but bandimere is still the highest track in real elevation and DA. Yours is up there though;)

elevation here(grangbendmotorplex) is 642 ft
average DA is 1000-1500.

The car does not care what the real elevation is, only the DA.

In the high desert of South East Idaho at ~8000 ft I have had the camaro doing 150 mph in 5th with the AC on, about 90 degrees outside and it was still pulling.

Impressive! I think the a/c automatically shuts down when the gas pedal is at 2/3 throttle or more in a lot of newer cars.

I have always wondered if top speed gets higher, lower or stays the same at higher altitudes. Sure you have less horsepower at higher elevations, but you also have less air density and therefore it is easier to push the car through the air. Does anybody know for sure?

I actually live up north in Moscow but I was driving to Idaho falls when I did this. The car actually felt quite strong, and Steve I don't know if the A/C shuts off or not but I sure as hell had the thing floored!!
