I just bought a 91 z28 long block (rebuilt) with edelbrock performer heads and a tpis zz9 cam. We are putting this in an older car with a carburator and aftermarket intake. What do you think, should I keep the zz9 cam or switch to something bigger, since i no longer have the restraints of the factory ecm. The car is a 1985 firebird with 3.73 gears, th350, any stall from 2800-3800, 750 holley vac secondary, and long tube headers. Thanks Prorac1

My first thought is that cam does not have provisions for a mechanical fuel pump. So you'll either have to run a electric fuel pump or swap to an older style cam with a lobe to run the mechanical fuel pump.

I suggest matching the cam to the tranny/converter and gears. That ZZ9 cam probably won't make power to match what you already have

The specs are as follows: 212 226 duration at .050, with .515/.554 lift with 1.6 rockers. Im kinda thinkin the same thing. This cam might be a little small for what im doing. Maybe a comp 306 would be beter suited. Any body want to buy a zz9 ;) Prorac1
