Joes94TA 03-07-2004, 08:45 PM Since James Eddy doesnt have internet access ,he asked if I'd post his new best and I even have to say for drag radial cam /head lt1 the times were impressive...
1st pass
1.70 60 ft
7.469@92.82
11.69@117.04
2nd pass
1.66 60 ft.
7.419@92.80
11.638@117.28
car was short shifting so we have to get that ironed out.As well as get some new meats on this thing ...and possible gear change to take advantage of the upper rpm charge...since tha car only has a 3:73 gear new gear and heavy foot launch will put this thing in the low 11's no prob...
Those are around the times I'm looking for with my new heads. Although with a little less MPH probably... and on a good weather day. :) Nice times!
TRICK95 03-08-2004, 07:07 AM What H/C Combo is that? Nice times, BTW!
T/A lt1 03-08-2004, 11:19 AM Good runs Joe, Looks exactly like the slips from my car about a month ago.
1.69 60' spinning
7.46 1/8th 93.5mph
11.66@116.95mph 1/4mi. with 3.42's!
Joe his car must be heavier than my car or is he running thru full exhaust b/c I was running dual bullets fro the longtubes on my runs and about 3550lbs. Later Clint
Chris'SS #2152 03-08-2004, 11:52 AM Nice times.
Joes94TA 03-08-2004, 09:37 PM Clint yeah full exaust and worn out DR's..drove it 120 miles to and from the track, as is no other changes..
Fastbird93 03-10-2004, 04:17 PM How soon is he going to get dialed in and get the short shifting deal taken care of. I'd like to see that think completely dialed in!!
Joes94TA 03-10-2004, 04:53 PM good tire going on for this weekend and hopefully shifting prob sorted out ..following week putting cutouts on the car and possibly moving the cam in the motor.which will all depend on how things look after it makes a good clean pass.. I like to note changes so I only like to do one thing at a time...
Fastbird93 03-10-2004, 05:08 PM Keep us posted for sure. I'm VERY interested to see how well it performs.
T/A lt1 03-10-2004, 05:11 PM Me too b/c my new cam better perform at least better than that Joe!:D :D
Quickshotkimber 03-10-2004, 07:25 PM I'm back online:D
The car feels great! Got alot of issues to sort out like tranny shift points, tires, gears, fine tuning, suspension, ect, ect. I'm pretty damn happy with a couple of shakedown passes. She'll be at the track this weekend and I expect it will be a little different with a 1.50 60'
On a sidenote, the guy I bought this converter from had heads and cam and trapped a best of 109. It'd not too efficient but has a 2.6 STR  It was kinda frustrating not being able to use the stall at all and giving some up on top.
Big thanks to Joe. I have very little money in this car and it is running stronger than I could have dreamed. The motor is all there, just got to get the car set up right now.
It's still hard to believe that a stock cast head with stock size valves that flows around 250 cfm was still gaining at 6700 and made great TQ all over the place:bow:
Fastbird93 03-10-2004, 07:58 PM Sounds like you're going to have a very nice running car once it's all done. Are you full weight or have you done some weight reduction??

Mostly basic stuff like the pass seat, Those leather seats are heavy as hell. Still have stock k member and susp stuff. Pulled AC and the TCS off, still got the heater and full stereo. I'll try to weigh it in strip form this week. I'd guess it's around 3550 or 3600 with me.

Awesome numbers dude.
For all the naysayers about Joes cam combo, please explain why my 403RWHP, TEA heads and comp XE230/236 went 11.77@115.34. Nothing done by Joe. I`m not running the mile an hour people expect. Maybe its the 1.70 60` time, or the very peaky dyno graph, that its an auto w\ a stall, shorty headers w\ no midrange torque, weight, 3:42 gears on drag radials, fullsize 16inch all around...............You get my drift.
This year w\ a dynotune vs mailorder, 77lbs weight reduction, 3:73 gears, Longtube headers w\ full mandrel bent 3 inch Ypipe, I expect to hit 11.4`s at 118+.
What people fail to understand is that you can`t say X hp equals X mph. To many other factors.
Example two cars 400rwhp, equal in all respects weight, gearing ect... one being an auto, one being a 6spd. Do you naysayers honestly think they will trap the same mph?.....Not!
Class dismissed.........

Can you expain what you mean by this? I was under the impression that cams in LT1 motors should be installed straight up, dot to dot. Retarding or advancing is possible, but I have heard that the injector phasing will be off. Can you comment on this?
BTW, nice times on your shakedown passes! Get that baby dialed in:)
Thanks

sounds to me like you've got a few tenths to shave off and a couple more mph to tack on there!
excellent stuff man
how does your car drive when just tooling around town, tame or?
get some video footage:) and keep us informed of the progress

Joes94TA 03-11-2004, 01:38 PM welcome back James...heed the warning... the natives are restless...:D I can only imagine whats gonna happen when I finally run my personal bullet in a few weeks:cool:
blkchevyz 03-11-2004, 04:47 PM is this a hydrolic cam or solid?
nice run.
T/A lt1 03-11-2004, 04:49 PM It's a hydraulic roller

That's right, just a baby one:D
It thumps a little;) and gets me around town very well. I drive it everywhere, including the track. Got ALOT of stuff to do to the susp, tires, gears, ect, ect. It's time to set the car up so that it can use everything she has. We'll post some new #s this weekend:)

Joes94TA, can you comment?
T/A lt1 03-12-2004, 12:34 PM I am not Joe O but you can adavnce or retard the cam in a LT1 w/o any problems. I have had a 2degree advanced key in my engine for about 5-6mos and it runs like a beast.
96LT14u2Nv 03-14-2004, 11:21 PM great times man. very impressive

Did you have to adjust the tuning to compensate for the timing ? I was wondering how this is done myself.
T/A lt1 03-15-2004, 11:33 AM No, I didn't. It only changes the timing so little it doesn't hurt you but a degree or so. Now if you went with a 4degree key or something bigger it may become a problem. Later
WS Sick 03-15-2004, 12:10 PM I was wanting to retard mine a few when I installed it, but was afraid to, I may open it back up and do just that now.
